MMM V3 - Castle, I need some help
I receive my MMM v3 this week end, i put it up on my E-revo and start to test it…
Here is my config: E-revo Neu 1515/2D/F MMM…, no mod, no external BEC (punch control 100%, start: low, timing motor: 0…) 7S2P A123 Gearing: 24/62 First test was with my first radio, the TQ one (27Mhz) who was working perfectly with my MM on 5S2P: At the start the MMM worked perfectly and more I ran it, more I pushed it, and more the Revo hesitated to accelerate when I was away from it… (still worked good when I was near it even with hard acceleration...) Second test was with the 41Mhz one, Ran like a champ… the Revo didn’t glitch anymore, no problem…Perfect… 10min later, after a bad wheeling, my Revo was on the body…I was far away, so the radio system started to glitch... After that, The MMM was strange, the servo worked normaly, but when I tried to accelerate, the Revo just moved a little bit, nothing more…. MMM OFF… wait a bit… ON and something was wrong with the led… OFF 1second after. Let time for temp down, ON and welcome to the white smoke !!! Now my MMM look like that: nothing's wrong...(maybe the "223D" composant is dead..., don't know) http://i515.photobucket.com/albums/t...i/CIMG5139.jpg Just the two fan wire, who are cut by half... maybe short cut here: http://i515.photobucket.com/albums/t...i/CIMG5144.jpg Is it possible that it's juste the fan who failed? What can be wrong on this MMM??? Is it possible that he can work again? Thank you Castle to answer here. Guillaume |
Component "223" is the BEC switching coil, and if that went bad, your servos would not work either. But yeah, that fan wire doesn't look healthy. Time to call Castle I'm afraid...
|
Is it me or do the signal and positive wires look like they have insulation damage?
|
No, you're right, they do have damage, especially the throttle ground wire...
|
Even the switch wires looks damaged.
|
I'm wondering if this is a lemon from the factory or if some kind of extreme heat issue. You can see how the swithc wires seem to have suffered from heat damage right about the area where which is inside the case, in the last picture. You should definitely get in touch with some at castle, preferrably through here and get advice on if it's safe or not to use that ESC.
|
That's what the fan wires will look like in most MMM's if you don't do anything to protect them.
Send it in, Patrick need to see everyone that looks like that. |
I have retry my MMM,
just 13.2V A123, MMM no other electronics... ON and just a little little white smoke come here by the hole in the center of the red circle: http://i515.photobucket.com/albums/t...G5153copie.jpg I have try it like 5 times, juste a little white smoke. After the 5th time, no more smoke... Just the 3 Led who flash a lot quickly than a normal MMM The Castle link work perfectly... After that i have tested with a radio system. no answer, just a lot lot lot of led flashing... Dead. |
I have a nice flash show if the switch is off, when i switch it on, theres the normal led flashing and then the neutral led lights. And green at throttle and red on brake/reverse. But when i switch back to off, it stays on (orange on neutral etc.:)
Works otherwise tho. And my wires look damaged too. But im gonna run it until it smokes, and i hope never. Takes too long to send from Finland and wait for a new one. Only if i HAVE to. I keep a bottle of freeze spray with me always while driving. :D |
Oh, sounds like you are going to have to send it in

as i know its the death of the fifth mmmv3!!???so...the % is realy better than the mmmv2 or v1

Anyone notice how the MMM was run on 7s a123? I know it's rated for it, but since the nominal voltage is higher that 6s lipo, maybe the MMM had some kind of overvoltage failure.

could it be the failure:yes: but what is the voltage of 7 123 cell at when they are fully charged??? |
The voltage of fully charged a 7S A123 pack is 7*3.6=25.2
Same as a fully charged 6S LiPo pack which is at 6*4.2=25.2 But these voltages mean naught, since under load the cells will settle down towards they nominal capacities. |
