What to wrap a motor magnet with?

So I plan on pushing a hacker b50 motor hard in my speed car...

And I would like to wrap the magnet with some sort of carbon thread? to help it stay together.

So I am wondering 2 things:

1st, what sort of thread/string should I use?

2nd, what type of glue should I use to hold it in place?

I guess any other info would be useful, such as how to wrap it on the magnet and how to secure the ends of the thread.

All help or insight is greatly appreciated!

use a trojan. those things are so thick there is no way it would ever break.... Probably good to 100K rpm. :oh:

You can go with the following: http://www.solarcomposites.com/compo...itespools.html. You could also use Kevlar which is basically used by every other motor manufacturer that wraps their magnets (Neu is the only one who uses carbon fiber). You can also buy the C50 rotor which comes with the magnet wrapped with Kevlar.

dont forget to balance te rotor when you are done. At 60,000 rpm being unbalanced wouldnt be a good thing.

Ok, good info, but what do I coat the string with to keep it on there?

Lutach, I have a few c50 motors and none are wrapped with kevlar... Are they just doing this with the new motors?

Would this stuff work?

This stuff looks even better than kevlar for not stretching...

That's odd, all my C50's have their rotors wrapped. It's a very thin layer and grayish in color. Here is a picture of one of my C50 (The ION-X):

That seems to be what Novak used on my custom HV motors:

That, Spectra and Zylon are all good stuff. You can find Spectra at you fishing store  as some fishing lines are made of Spectra fibers.

You can use http://www.solarcomposites.com/compo...20sleeves.html and their Shrink Tube to make a nice Carbon/Kevlar wrapping. They come in different diameters and the link above even tell you the temps the epoxies can handle.

That is weird, All of my l can c50s do not have the wrap. I will open up the 10xl, but the 11xl did not have the wrap either...
