amp draw w/ 6-7XL

ok, if i use 4s lipo.
how many amps does the revo really draw when geared for racing?

previously ive just been getting a lipo with enough amps to fry the motor/ESC.

what amound of continuous amp draw should i be looking at?

There are way too many factors for us to make any sort of conclusions here, partially including your driving style, the capabilities of your batteries, terrain/traction, gearing, etc.

In this situation continuous amp draw has no meaning - if you were to look at a graph of your Revo's current draw you would see a bunch of spikes. It sounds like what you're interested in is average amp draw. For vehicles of that size the average amp draw typically is in the range of 15-25amps. This number means nothing in terms of what batteries to choose...

Generally many will recommend a battery which is rated to supply 100amps continuously. On the same note it will also be recommended that you use a battery made by a reputable manufacturer, so that the battery can be expected to live up to its ratings.

Just FYI, depending on the battery, motor, ESC, gearing, etc., you can expect current spikes upwards of 150amps.

yeah ok i understand that,
geared for off road racing (say 35mph max)
looking at jumps and pretty high load compared to my bashing style.

so if i get a batt that's say 80A cont i'll be ok then (that'll put me well in the green) i guess it's just the burst amps that matters?

what's the max rated continuous amps for a feigao 6-7XL??

Continuous still doesn't really mean anything in our cars/trucks/buggies. For example, the 7XL is rated at 95amps, yet can (and will, give good enough batteries) pull 150+amps.

Most would argue that 80amps continuous isn't enough, especially for track usage with a Revo.

ahh ok so continuous is really for aircraft:tongue:

i think i'll go with a 7XL.
what gearing should i aim for?
i'm trying out 32p (if they fit) spur/pinion atm as i dont have any really good gear (single VXL and 3s batt)

thanks for the help:mdr:
