Another dead V3

Well, it lasted a few weeks :intello:. I was into my second pack when the truck just stopped moving. I went over to pick it up and when I removed the body, there are no lights lit on the MMM. No smoke or cogging. This is my second time running the revo conversion I built a few weeks ago. I used the long-shanked pinions I bought from TeknoRC instead of the elektri-clutch.

Here' my setup:
Revo conversion
5S 25C Neuenergy 5000mah lipos
38/17 spur/cb
stock diffs
locked 2nd gear tranny
mechanical brakes

I'll be sending it off to CC tomorrow. I'm not even going to bother opening the case or doing anything at all. I'll just let them do the troubleshooting/repair. It won't even energize the rx so probably the BEC died.

Back to running Luciano's ESC on the Gmaxx until I get the replacement :party::party::whistle:.

Damn, unlucky, let is know what CC think it is

Sad to hear 'bout that Lito....Hope your other V3 will stay strong....

My V3 are yet to be tested since my EMAXX is running on MGM and the other truck hasnt been completed yet...

Hopefully the replacement will be waiting for me by the time we come back from our 3 week vacation.Too bad I can't take the revo with me.

Anyway, all the settings are all default except for the cut-off. I had it set at 16V for my 5S packs. At least I know it's not the motor since I already installed the other ESC and everything worked.

TruckBasher 11.23.2008 07:28 AM

Good thing motor is working..hope its not the settings that killed it......well enjoy your vacation....

rootar 11.23.2008 09:37 AM

what do you mean the settings that killed it? on both the ones we ran yesterday i changed the all settings on them. one is still going other died in 8 minutes, does changing the settings really have anything to do with it?

George16 11.24.2008 12:37 PM

I don't think the settings killed it. But who knows. I'll just wait for castle's email and replacement to arrive so I can install it on my new build.

Mine did that on it's maiden voyage. I cut the switch of, and have been flogging it hard ever since.

Sorry to hear about your problems, but we run the software updated v2's and the v3's way harder than that, and they haven't skipped a beat. We can barely get the fans on. I hope you guys with failures are just catching some bad breaks. Take it from me, a guy who went through 6 v1's and 2's, the v3 controllers are tough.

George16 11.24.2008 07:31 PM

I hope it's just a switch but I did not open the case or hardwire the switch wires. I just hope I get the replacement so I can install it on my ST-RR conversion.

Hello,
Are there new news about the about the dead MMM V3? Because I want to buy one too, for my Thunder Tiger St-1 conversion. It wouldn't be fine if the ESC would be dead, because i'm from Europe and so I needed to ship back to America etc.
Hoping for an answer :)

best regards,
gigi

The V3's are fine. If they were not you would see it all over this forum. I have 3 working perfectly. The only mod I did was to put shrink tube on the fan wire so the edge of the board will not cut them. Get one & don't worry.

Hi,
Ok thanks for your answers, so I'll get one :)
But I will wait until rc-monster Mike will do reductions or coupons for christmas, he said something like that...Does anybody of you know when he does the reductions, or how much will it be cheaper?

best regards,
gigi
