Hyper ST Pro conversion
Hi, after looking at a lot of videos and pictures of converted truggies I was hooked. About the same day that I convinced myself I NEEDED to get a truggy to convert a very good condition Hyper ST Pro RTR kit went up for sale with a broken motor. Perfect.
So far I have stripped it down to the bare essentials, and started to plan the configuration, and draw up some mounts and plates etc. This is my plan, opinions wanted.
Hopefully I can make some mounts today at work and get some pictures for you people. |
Sounds like a great project, GOOD LUCK!
That setup should work rather well, aside from short runtimes. It sounds like you have enough A123s that this won't be an issue, though.
Let's see some pics of your battery mounting! |
Will be using 6s2p, but it is looking like a very tight fit! With the aussie dollar the way it is I don't think I will be getting a set of lipos anytime soon. Although I am going to the states on work in January, so that might be my chance!
Ah, in that case you should get great runtimes . It's gonna be a heavy truck, though! My CRT with Medusa 36-60-1600, MMM, 5s 4800-5000mah Lipos, and a very simple layout is pushing 10lbs (4.55kg) already.
Yeh, I am used to heavy trucks, my emaxx is pushing 5-6kg (14lbs) fully loaded.
rotate the centre diff and put the motor front left and there is room in the back for 6s2p
Cool. The MMM fits nicely over the steering servo, btw. Ialso mounted my rx box behind the servo for a clean setup. If I can get a decent pic I will show it to you.
I was thinking of mounting the MMM opposite the steering servo, and the receiver on top of the servo to balance the batteries which will be behind the steering servos. I should really set it up and take a picture to make it clearer.

A little update, been real busy at work. Have only got my motor and receiver mount sorted out.
http://i33.tinypic.com/bfjgcl.jpg http://i34.tinypic.com/2mdrnyu.jpg I know my batteries are not ideal yet, but I am only testing with 4s2p, but will put another 2s2p pack in the front area. |
you tested it like that:surprised: batts don't only fly at night
hmm maybe I shouldn't show my picture with the other battery on the front. haha, zip ties are the best invention ever. Handled the jumps nicely, albeit only 2 feet of air.
Battery trays are next on the agenda. |
I still think you should do with a saddle pack configuration.
Might take your advice and change my battery configuration on the weekend. Just ordered a motor mount, so I can run the motor at the front, and be done with it.
Good.
