Is there any possiblity that current/voltage/time logging could be incorporated into a firmware update on the RC controllers in the future?

With all the value packed into your controllers, price,quality,features,support, I think you guys could make a few bucks by offering fee based downloadable firmware updates with added features/functionality such as data logging options and things. All the work that goes into your controllers, your exceptional service, we still get added features that don't even compare to the original controller at no extra cost, which is a good thing and a necessity, but I think extras that aren't necessary to the basic functions would be worth paying for the effort of programming.

Data Logger function needs significant hardware change, definitly counld NOT be done by just firmware update, no matter how much you pay for it.

IMO, Data logger is not an everyday need for an ESC, paying for that seldom-use feature might not be very wise. Better buy an individual logger such as the Eagle Tree V3, use it only when needed.

I would pay for a data log function, a speed meter would be nice too...

Well, perhaps they could make use of that usb port to offer expansion hardware that can accomodate stuff like that. Or maybe a whole new esc in the future with extra options. I don't personally want to shell out the money for a dedicated logger or a speed meter as it has some interesting data, its nothing that I need to have or make use of enough to justify the cost. So I thought if they could make a basic one built into the esc, it would be cool to have.

Buy an MGM- they have models with built in basic dataloggers, or they offer expansion kits for greater memory and range of things you can log.

Interesting idea, but I too prefer the idea of a seperate logger- given you can get cheap watts up meters and the Eagle tree for less than $150, its not that much of a financial blow compared to the cost of the setup as a whole.

Castle ALREADY has that kind of product.
It's an aircraft brushless ESC called the Phoenix ICE or something like that, with Built-in Logger and switching mode BEC. Seen on Tower's 2009 catalog.

Also, another brushed ESC named iCUBE from another company also has built-in logger feature.

True, but neither is much use to the BL car or truck driver who also likes to have motor brakes and reverse saddly. Time will tell I guess...

That phoenix ice is what triggered the idea. I saw it on their special project site. I personally like and would like to continue to support castle creations, and would rather not buy a different speed controller. And to me, justifying the cost of new hardware so I can find out how many watts I'm running is unrealistic at the moment.
