Help with assembly of Neu 1512
 

Pulled apart a Neu 1512 (one with screws on the end). Im pretty sure that the end had the two gold spacers (1 short and 1 long) and 4 shims/washers which 2 are different size. When I pulled the rotor out I pulled it that bit two fast and the gold spacer fell out but wasn't sure if anything else fell out. Later on I noticed another washer/shim but wasn't sure if I missed counted the rear or it fell off the front of the rotor when I took it out. Anyone know if the washer/shim goes on the front or rear?

LOL. Got a laugh out of this only due to that sort of thing happens a lot to me. I wish I could give you some help. I'll wait to see if anyone knows before I attempt to take one them apart to find out.

one gold spacer and one shim in the front, two gold spacer (one short and one long) in the rear with the remaining 4 shims, thats how mine was.

its the same as shimming a brushed motor, just need to have the rotor centered in the mag. field. install it with no spacers and spin the shaft a couple times. then pull the shaft and see if it moves, you will feel it center itself when you let go. shim it so there is slight movement both ways but still spins freely. when i got my 1512 i ran it and noticed it was unusually warm. i reshimmed it and it runs as cold as ice now! lol

slim has it right just make sure its where it wants to be and that its not binding after you shim it.

Thought that is how it was. The shims were against the rotor?

Yeah, that has me thinking now as I do have a heating problem with the motor

shims towards the motor spacers to the bearings.
