Ace Servos?
Has anyone used ACE servos? I was at the LHS about to pick up a nice Futaba S9351 servo ($109) when the guy recommended an ACE Digital metal gear servo for $75 (DS1313 173oz-in/0.13s @6v), and had better specs:
Ace DS1313 It certainly looks nice and beefy! The horn alone is nicely built and feels nice and rigid. And it comes with decent screws (larger heads). It works fine around the basement, but was wondering what long term results were like? |
Very good servos. The Associated high end servos that are popular now are just rebadged Ace servos.

ive been using one for a few months now, its a great servo, gear sets are also cheap for it if you ever needed to replace them. only $13, i dont plan on buying any other brand servo these plenty fast strong enough for a truggy or buggy. and for the money saved i can keep and extra gear set laying around because i dont care how much your servo cost if you race 1/8 scales they are gonna go out.
|
dont buy the asssociated labled gear set or servos are cost more for no reason the servo are about $5 more for the name and the gear sets are 7-8 more than the ace brand.
btw if you want one better than the 1313 the 1015 has a little better specs @ .10 response and 200oz compared to 176 and .13 |
Yeah, I noticed the odd increase in price for the "brand name" version. That's BS really.
The 1015 was a bit much for my on-road car, but probably perfect for a truggy or MT. |
i have a airtronics 94360 with aluminum output that would be perfect if you wanna swap for the 1313 you bought? 125 tq and .07 response  lol
just messing im running it in my xray and my ace will be going in my truggy when i get it built this week. |
lol, no thanks. I actually like the output that the 1313 has: fast but not too fast. And torquey enough to easily turn the wheels when the car is standing still. But thanks for the offer.

Lot of people around use them. Most of them are happy. So far seen one that developed a lot of slop after about 6 races as steering servo in a truggy so friend replaced it with JR9100
|
those ace servos would look so aesthetically pleasing, all siver case and beautiful 2 to match my gmaxx, but $200 for 2 I just never pulled the trigger..I roll a 380 oz ? JR, never had an issue, centers perfect running 40s, check out jrs new 9100 line if you want to be king. Ace though never heard anything bad except this thread. All high end cant go too wrong

i got a ace servo once
never used it but when it finally did come time for its installation it constantly jitters although i did get it as a spare it sat for about 1.5 years prior just test it when you get i wish i did |
I kind of like them, they preform nicely, but only for a short time. I'v experienced that the gears wear quickly.
