No G4R for a while
I E-Mailed GorillaMaxx to see if they have a release date on a G4R because I'd like to build a GMaxx but want the Revo suspension with the new transmission (if Mike ever releases the Slipperential I'll go with that on the G3R). They told me they are reviewing several design options right now, so it'll be a while before we see G4R builds

For what it worth I've built the G3 with the G3.3 suspension and it fricken awesome setup! Here is the build thread and a video of it: I think it cost me around $2500 ish for everything, but it was well worth it..

I'd rather have the Revo suspension though. Is the 3.3 the one that gave you the ability to run the newer transmission? I don't like the way the Maxxes handle and I would prefer the new transmission unless there's another option than the old E-Maxx trans.

Actually no, I had to modify the 3.0 kit to accept the 3905 Trans, it was a pain but it worked out great in the long run. This thing sits real low and handles just as good if not better than my GR3.. For what it worth.. I'll be really looking forward to your update on the G4 when you get it.. PLEASE POST...
Thanks - Shaun. |

How did you find out about the G4R already?
Is it worth waiting for it or should I just get the G3R and call it a day? |
Its amazing what you can find out by contacting the company concerned...
As stated, there is no solid-plan for a G4 chassis yet, just lots of possible ideas; dont expect to see anything before next summer would be my educated guess. The G3r is fine, and if you ask Mike nicely he will make a you a center diff/drive unit like a few people have round here for the Gmaxx chassis- nice low CoG and clean looks to boot. Why not design something of your own based around the 3905 spec tranny, and have Mike or Metal man machine it up for you; just use a stock revo chassis for reference (hole spacing and general layout), and work from there- several guys have made their own center drive units with little more than basic tools. |
Well I'm not sure what the G4R is but the G4 is for sale on the their website for like $219.00 showing that the 3905 trans bolts right up.. http://www.gorillamaxx.com/
What am I missing here ?? There’s a Revo version coming out too hence the “R”.. Sorry it late!.. Thanks - Shaun. |

I may look into a G3R and have Mike or Travis build me a motor mount *cough* Slipperential *cough* for it, or maybe go direct-to-diff with an outrunner (never ran one before, I would like to try it out). |
Well for what it's worth I love my G3R.. By far the best build I have, but its also the most expensive.. Hhahahhahaha.. Best of luck with what ever you chose..

I think the center of the chassis should just be modified to fit the new trans and a new flat bottom plate for lipo batts, but maybe there is more to it then that. I'm waiting for the G4R so i can run bigger batts and not have to worrier about them over heating.
