what setup for 40+ mph

i have an all aluminum emaxx (not the light stuff )and the 7" tires and would like 2 know which motor 2 buy.i already have 8 cell packs so running 16 cells is no problem. i just want a set up thats not going 2 put alot of strain on the 9918 also what gearing?

The 10L or 7xl would be the best choices. If your truck is particularly heavy, the 7xl is a great choice. With 7" tires, start with a 12 to 14 tooth pinion on the stock spur or similar ratios for the gearing. This should provide plenty of power and keep things fairly cool. If you have the 1/8 diffs, add a tooth or so to the pinion as a starting point.

the 7xl is pretty close 2 the amp limit of the 9918 or is the 9918 underrated amp wise ?

Ryan on this board has been running the 7xl on 18 cells with the 9918. It is pretty durable. Gearing will of course play a role. the 9918 is definately getting a workout with the 7xl motor!
