zippy chip
just got a couple of the zippy brand lipo's and just wanted to know, is the chip necessary? or can it be removed. my speed control has a cutoff already or does it have something to do with keeping ballance. sorry guys new to the zippys
chip, i have a 5s1p zippy with no chip what am i missing?
dunno? these were smaller 2x 2s 1600 and a 3s1500 both 20-30c..... but the 3s is for my transmitter and the others are for my daughters 18t
Hmm, picture?
I wasnt aware the Zippies had any kind of chip on them, except maybe a pcb that is used to join the solder tabs between cells, rather than direct soldering as such. |
umm first time iv heard of this so called "chip too"
maybe a picture would help, my zippy have no chip
well back to the basics, WE NEED PICTURES.
thanks, I'm very curious now too |

What the hell is that. Does it attach to the balance tabs? My Zippys didnt have that.
Yes it can be removed, when i had my zippy rebuilt it was removed

yeah, i dont know what it is either, but for now i will probably just leave it.
Doesnt lok like a chip to me, looks like that pcb tab connector I mentioned. I would just leave it be.
Weird am curious to know what it does, because I have three zippy's one 3s and two 2s and they dont have that, but then again i have the zippy-k 4300mah which hobbycity dosent sell no more.

This isn't a "chip", it is a PCB (Printed Circuit Board) as suicideneil pointed out.
There are two ways to build Lipos, with a PCB or without. Some manufacturers do it one way, others do it the other way. Basically the PCB just makes attaching the cell tabs together a bit cleaner and more manageable. Some manufacturers including soldering points for balance connector wires to be attached on their PCBs, so they don't have to be soldered directly to the cell tabs (the less heat on the cell tabs the better). In some cases PCBs increase the likelihood of a battery going bad, which is typically the result of the PCB cracking due to a crash or hard impact directly on the PCB. |
I used to buy no-name lipos for my RC18's from a guy on eBay. They actually did come with an LVC built-in, which I thought was cool. They may have been Zippy's for all I know. It was r_gomez.
