Making a custom chassis...need some advice on placement of the center diff.
 

I am building a new chassis and am trying to figure out placement of the center diff/motor. The setup will be off set, and any suggestions would be helpful.

I am extending my crt.5 chassis 1" longer than Mikes kit and it will be 1/2" wider. In looking at my other crt.5 where the motor/diff is on the chassis, I am temped to position the motor about 60-65% toward the rear of the chassis. The batt. tray will be more or less centered end to end.

I would trace the outline of the chassis on the aluminum plate, then place the motor, CD, BT within the outline and move them around until you have a setup that you like. Then trace around everything and mark the holes to be drilled. If you wanted to tape everyting down, you could even check the balance before drilling anything.

So the battery tray is installed? You could take the CD/Motor assembly and set it on the chassis (without the CVDs) and move it around until the balance is right. If the battery is centered F/R then the motor will have to be farther forward to even it out. Custom CVDs may be in order if you want it "just right".

I figure the custom shafts will be in order...I see what you are saying about moving the motor forward more to compensate for the batt.

How much are custom shafts :neutral: and what is the fab time for two?? :whistle:
