Brushless Monster gt conversion help
Bought a mgt on ebay for 400 bucks setup very nice... Going to sell the .70 engine that came with it and some other stuff. Started working on it today took oout the tranny electonic box, servos and engine. Installed my quarter scale servo conversion mudguard and servo. Will Take progress pictures.
I am going to install a center diff. Have not decided which diff to install. 1. Has mike made the center slipper for the diffs yet? Having hard time getting a hold of him. 2. will a center diff alone be good enough or will the drivetran exlpode from from not having one? 3. 5s or 6s lipo? Not sure if 5s will be enough power. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=330286046842 link to truck I bought |
Wow!!! Another monster gt.
There have been a couple of these converted. Driveline is pretty strong. I put an emaxx tranny on mine. That worked well. :) |

Looks nice. I am in the process of converting a MGT and have toyed with several options. I've discovered that a centre differential does not fit in the area where the tranny mounts with a decent size spur gear.

you can grind the chassis to make a center diff fit
|
I like the aluminum side plates.
I only had plastic on mine. The diff will fit but you have to do some modding to the chassis. |
True, I was talking about an unmodded chassis.

that is a fricken' sweet monster gt. you should run atleast 1 gallon of fuel before you convert it.
questions: -no timeframe on the slipper, but it's in the works -a center diff is a good idea, and will handle the power fine. Mike will soon be making this diff http://www.rc-monster.com/forum/showthread.php?t=10233 it's for an e-maxx, but it's design will easily adapt to a monster gt, I thought of that as I had an mgt when I got that center diff/motor mount -it's a big truck, and you have plenty of room, go 6s, perfect match for an MMM and a kb45! |
