Here's a basic Slayer conversion using the Tekno kit.
This is going to be a short one because it was pretty easy conversion and after this thread I am caught up on the "paper work".
I didn't plan on using the Tekno kit or converting the slayer so soon after I got it. But due to adverse weather conditions. I was forced to put the slayer up after I got the break in completed. It would just not run well in the cold. I really didn't get my fix I guess. I was surfing and next thing I am buying a Tekno Kit of the impulse rack on the internet. You guys have seen the right? Being and impulse buyer they are all over for me. The kit came in and I had already started tearing down the SLayer to clean the mud and sand off from the tank 6 run. I don't know if anyone else has this happen. There is always some portion of a build or a rebuild that I either get in a hurry and forget about taking pictures or close to getting frustrated. I missed taking some of this build. After the build and conversion I stripped the first gear. I made up for the missed part while I had the tranny out. Any how here's some pictures of the conversion. I'm sure more thoughts will come to mind later on adding some notes to the build that might help someone else out. During the first part of break in I was running it stock. It was easy to tell how unstable it was. If your going to get one order up some sway bars. It took more then two days to go through the break in. I had the sway bars installed for the last couple of tanks and it was a good thing. When it shifted into second gear. It would want to just roll over and slide on it hood. |
I love my badlands, really make a good truck out of the slayer. I have a set of tekno swaybars that I need to install. Do they make that much difference?

I'll leave it on a while and give it a chance. If you are use to brushless and the instant launch we get from gear to gear. You also will be wondering if you like it or not. I removed the stock clutch pads and spring and replaced it with some alum shoes and no spring. This was much better. It still is not the fast response I am use to but it will pop a wheelie if you want it to. But the sound it make winding up had me wondering if I was doing my Neu any good. Oh yeah you probably want some specs. Neu 1515 1y MM CCBEC 4s Lipo 40/17 I stripped the first gear out on it after the conversion. I wanted to see if the handling was any better with some larger tires on it. It was faster but didn't get much time to enjoy it before the gear stripped. I order a set of the close range gears when I got the slayer and a 17t clutch bell. So that what I replaced it with. Haven't had any decent weather or condidtions to try them out yet. It harder to tell when you shift into second with the close range. If anything else comes up I will add it here. |

But it would slide sideways and was easy to bring it back around the other way. I tried the lightest Revo springs I had but they seem to tight for it. I order the next color of springs up to try out.
