Rather well. I had started spraying the orange housings black using my left over tamiya acrylics (from the body shell I did back along), but I kinda ran out, so there is still some orange showing through- I'll touch it up at a later date if I can be buggered.

I used a couple faulty head torches I got from work- they are ment to have 3 different lighting modes, but the button or chip is busted so all 3 leds and the mini- bulb stay on regardless. I soldered some leads to the battery contacts inside and then paralleled them together onto an Rx lead that then plugs into a vacant slot on the Rx for ~6v of power. They are designed to run from 3AAA batteries for 3.6-4.5v of power, but they actually run fine on 9v, but to save having to find a home for one of those somewhere on the chassis, the Rx seemed like the ideal solution to provide plenty of voltage for brightness without pushing the limits of what the Leds and mini-bulb could stand.

Will be doing some evening driving fairly soon, as the weather has stayed dry and not too cold of late- snow would be nice though, I envy some of you guys.

I used to work nights and had my original e-maxx set up with front headlights so I could drive when I got home. Not as nice or bright as yours but functional none the less. The were off two mini maglites. Sure was nice to drive around and night.

I like the idea of maglights- adjustable for flood and spotlight function. As it is, these ones have both- the mini-bulb is the spotlight I believe and the Leds do the floodlight function, though since they are all on at the same time, you get a nice effect (seems like one of the mini-bulbs isnt as bright as the other, I will have to have a little poke at some point). I have mounted small flashlights before, just to run around for a bit.

I think someone should design some head lights that will withstand the flips and bumps of bashing without going "blink" and not work anymore.

Something that co-exists with original bumpers/skid plates and still puts out this kinda quantity of light. :yes:

i had the same idea, since i liked to do night riding, but instead, i just took a red and a white LED, and mounted them next to each other ontop of the body. I didnt need to see much because there wasnt much that could stop my RC, except mabye a tree, but I knew where the trees were. It made a little bit of ambient light around the truck, and it worked like a boat. by the orientation of the lights I could tell where I was and which way i was facing! but i like the flashlight idea too
