just a quick power supply question
hey guys. i have a pc power supply that puts out 10 amps at 12 volts, and i want to hook this up to a hyperion EOS0610i and charge 6s lipo's. my main question is, will 12v be enough to charge a 22 volt lipo? or would i need a different power supply with a higher voltage?
thanks, Dylan. |
12-14 volts is the normal output for a power supply, you will be fine. someone will chime in with a more detailed answer, i just know the normal voltage:)

hyperion takes care of making 22V out of 12V.

k cool, thanks guys!

Although, 12v @ 10A is only 120w. That will limit your charge current to ~4A at 6s. Easy way to spec the right size PS is to multiply the lipo's highest voltage (4.2v/cell) by the current and add in ~20% for charger efficiency. So, for a 6s 5Ah pack, you'd need (25.2v * 5A) / 80% = 157w. At 12v, that's a little over 13A.

that was the more detailed answer i was talking about. i knew that was the case, but could not articulate that precise of an answer. :intello:
