Wanting 4WD 1:18 scale truck
 

I've been thinking about it and latley i've been wanting a 1:18 scale 4WD off-road truck to convert to brushless. What would be a good 1:18 truck? I'd kinda like a 4WD truck like an RC18T but i think a 4WD monster truck would run better in my area. maybe the mini e-revo when it comes out would be best for what i'm wanting?

The way my rustler's going, i'm thinking of selling it becouse it's really not being very reliable. The past year, i have only gotten around 10 full runs with it without something breaking or going wrong.
I've had my mamba max 7700kv system in it for 2 years and LiPo for a year. I have blown a mamba max motor, 3 mamba max ESC's, 3 diffs, about 5 spurs, my clutch really needs to be replaced, and my first Trackpower LiPo died i'm thinking my second one is about to. my running temps have been around 110 for the motor, 150 for the ESC and 110 for the battery untill the past 2 weeks. The battery has been getting up to 125-130 the past week and it seems to keep getting higher as well as the pack keeps getting more and more unballanced (the pack spent 30mins on the balancer after a 10min run today).

If I get my e-maxx running and get a new 1:18 and thay aren't more reliable, I may not be in the hobbie for too much longer.:no:

1/18 scale isn't of much use unless you have a near perfect area to run. Parking lots, basements, carpet tracks, or a scale track that is groomed to perfection. Build yourself a CRT.5! You won't be disappointed! It's 1/12 scale, slightly shorter wheel base than the rustler, comparable ground clearence so small obstacles aren't such obstacles! Very durable. I've put at least 30 full packs through mine and I broke 1 front a-arm and a turnbuckle. The original size tires are the same as a traxxas bandit but it can run 1/10 truck tires such as off a rustler if you gear accordingly. It has 12mm hex which is the same as traxxas rustler/bandit/stampede/slash. The slash tires are pretty good for bashing.

As far as getting an E-Maxx to be reliable......GOOD LUCK!

RC18T is a decent little truggy but keep in mind it is small and don't ask to much from it if you get one.

do you know how to make the holes for the body mounts on a new body without a body reamer or body hole puncher?

Dremel tool has always worked for me

could i use a regular drill with a small drill bit?

what is a good nimh battery i can get for around 50 bucks that will fit in a rc18

You can get LiPos for less than that! If you want nimh though try the intelect brand

rc pro: regular drill will work fine i used the right size drill bit first as it might be hard to get centered again. though a small pilot hole should work fine

rc dude: you can actually get zippy packs for the rc18t which get pretty good ratings for how cheap they are, for around $15-20 (though shipping to me at least is $12, kinda expensive) i have on order a 1750 mah 3s 20c lipo, that fits by just extending the battery post which is very simple. results to follow.

Thanks a lot! And the place i have to run it is really nothing for my rustler and pointless for a maxx lol most of it is grass and roads. The onlything here that's a big enough jump to really hurt the e-maxx would be my nabors mulch pile lol and i think he got rid of it. the only other jump of any size would be jumping off the end of my narbors driveway. But the e-maxx flies strait threw the air and has never has a problem landing it on all 4's. so the drivetrain should be most of my worries.

As for the rustler though, it's nothing but drivetrain parts that break anymore and that's becouse i can't upgread the parts that are breaking.

I run mine with a FP 3s 1500 pack (I did add some nuts to the fastner for the battery hold down)

Check my sig if you are interested in a vendetta st. They are very durable once you get steel cvd's. the only problem i've ever had is the steerig links popping out, but they were just worn out and new ones solved the problem.

No thanks, i think i'll just get a CRT.5 or mini e-revo when the time comes. right now i'm spending all my money on "builit proof" maxx drivetrain parts
