My MMM combo finally came - questions!
ok guys, so my MMM combo finally got delivered this morning (yay) after waiting since August for it, but inevitably i have many questions! ok here goes:
1. My MMM did not come with the power wires soldered to the board. they are separate, is this still a V3? 2. My MMM has a switch, i thought they removed them? 3. how do i know which of the 3 motor wires to plug in where? 4. are the 2 screws that came with it meant to be for the motor? if so, they are very small 4. I got a castle link, but no CD to go with it. is it just plug and play stuff? 5. the manual seems to be written for the mamba max. is it still pretty much the same stuff like setting up the monster? 6. and finally, the switch has no on/off markings. if the switch is next to the black wire side as opposed to the red, is it off? many thanks guys. if the weather is good maybe i will drive this afternoon! theres something i never thought id say! |
1. All the combos are a v3 esc
2. Switchs still come on them. the majority of us remove them because they are a trouble spot 3. Doesn't matter where you plug the wires in, if it goes backwards just switch 2 of the wires 4. Don't know what the screws are for 5. download CastleLink from castlecreations.com 6. All the CC escs program the same so yes the manuals are basically the same 7. Once you hook everything up you'll know what is on and off on the switch if you keep it - best bet though is to cut the switch off and solder the wires together and cover it with shrink wrap |
cool thanks for your reply. i have another quick question:
i set the MMM so that it has the LVC is set to "auto-lipo", meaning it automatically sets the cutoff when it sees the lipo voltage dropping too low. my question is, does it moniter it as one 6s pack? does it moniter it as two 3s packs, or does it moniter each cell individually? the reason i ask is because i may have a damaged cell, and if this one cell goes below 3v but the rest of the cell's voltages are high, will the LVC realise this and alert me? also, is there any way to set it to 3.1v cutoff instead of 3.0v? i'd feel more comfortable with 3.1v. |

No, the lvc reads the entire pack voltage. I do not like the auto lipo setting, and never use it. If I were you I would hook up the castle link and set the cutoff manually at 19.2v for a 6s lipo. Which is 3.2v per cell. That will give you some extra saftey margin if one cell is weaker than the others. |
it monitors as a hole 6s pack but dont worry the discharge is even. no bec side or anything like that

Thats what he said though- the MMM measure the pack voltage as a whole- it has no means of reading individual cell voltages, only way to do that is with a seperate voltage checker that plugs into the balance taps on the lipos.
And yes, that is correct- I would suggest having a read of the manual as all this info is in there regarding custom settings and what-not. On and off is easy- when the knob is over to the side with the red and black wires, its on, when its over the side with just the red wire and a space, its off. |
