Which Mamba Monster Combo for 8ight on 4s?

I searched for the answer to my question, but couldn't find it, exactly, so forgive me if this has been asked before.

I have converted an 8ight to brushless using RC Monster's parts and 4S LiPo batteries. For various reasons, I'd like to replace the ESC and motor. My plan is to get one of the Mamba Monster combos. The Castle site suggests that the 2650-KV motor is the best choice for 4S 1/8th conversions, but I see that lots of folks on this board have used motors with KVs closer to to 2000 or 2200. So, which Neu/Castle motor would you suggest for an 8ight?

I´m not an expert on these things but I have the 2200KV in my RC8 with 4S lipo and it works great. Two of my buddies also have 2200KV motors.

i would definitely go with the 2650kv combo if you like to go fast at all. the 2200kv is best on 5s and preferably 6s imo, but i like mine to run a little fast. i converted my 8ight buggy with the 1512 1.5D 3300kv Neu on 4s and it was perfect. 50-55mph speeds. just barely faster than nitro but still a track friendly setup. i think the 2650kv will produce similar results.

plus the 2200kv setup is a little bit beefy for a buggy if you ask me. it is really meant to be a monster truck/truggy setup.

I have the 2200 in my RC8 on 4s, the power is incredible, never had it on a track but it seems like it would be overkill for track duty, but for bashing like i do its great. For racing get the 2650, the power will be more managable, but for bashing get the 2200.

2650 is going to be rediclous on 4S, I would get the 2200. I had a 2000KV on 4S in my 8ight and it was FAST.

I think castles reccommendations are a bit off IMO, considering 6S on 2200KV puts you at 55K rpm...

If you are racing, go with the 2000-2200kv. If you are bashing the 2600kv is fine for 4s.

I don't think the 2600 would be that bad. It's only ~39K rpm at most, and that's right at the peak eff% for the Neu motors. The 2200 on 4s is ~33K which is about the same as a nitro motor. Personally I'd go the faster route, even for racing. Top speed can always be adjusted with gearing choices.

Buggy 1512 i,e, 2650kv on 4s...

I run the neu 1512 2.5d (2050kv) on 5 s and it seems perfect for racing .15 min on 4300mah. I do not know what run times you are looking for but this is important for many peeps and there applications . You do not mention your mah or application so if you are looking for top speed go with the higher kv. The losi 4s pack is overpriced and Heavy and big!

The 2200 is a 1515 which is too much really for a buggy - I've had both motors for several months - you will be v happy with 4s and 2650 for a buggy.

The only reason to consider the 2200 is if you ever intend to put the motor in a MT.

I have to agree with everyone. I use a 1512/2d on 4s in my Hyper8 and it works very well. Temps are always good too. 4s 8Ah gets me ~20-30 min runtime.

Like what was said, if it's too fast, you can always gear down. And and/or increase punch control/lower timing/etc to tame it down a bit.

^ what they said, that 2650kv will be 1 fast mofo on 4s, the 1515 (2220kv) would be sick too but in a buggy unless you are a basher like me run it on 5s and make all the people in the neighborhood wonder what the crap you do in your house

I run a MMM with tekno 1515/1y in my 8ight B on 4s. I really like how it performs. Its plenty fast for the little track i'm on. I am mainly a basher tho. I'm geared 44/15.

I dont think you can really go wrong either way...

Neither the 2200 or the 2650 are ideal for racing. Actually the 2200 and 2650 are essentially the same motor in terms of how they will perform when geared to reach a given top speed. I personally would choose the 2650 because it is less weight, and has better gearing options.
