New T-maxx...ewwww nitro

Well, i got a T-maxx from my uncle yesterday. I think it's the 2.5 version, but 4 whatever reason it has an XTM .18 engine in it (used 4 the x-cellorater i think) anyways, its not all bad, the front 4 shocks are big bores (need rebuild, new spring and a shaft upgrade), the rear is driven by a spool and steel cvds. The best part is that there is good batt space 4 an electric conversion!!! I was thinking that this could be a good test truck for the ESCs and motors some guy on this forum r making. I could run 4s, a123, and maybe 6s. So, what do you guys say??

i also wana do the single shock setup, i was thinking CEN matrix rear buggy shocks?? o, and what r good air filters, plugs, and temp gauges? thnx!

it has a nitro engine in it, lol. i have to setup the whole tranny and suspension, and the steering servo could swing a micro-t's tires at a stop so i have crappy steering. of course this 1 is used, but i think i need to replace the sleeve/piston b/c it was run once, shut off, and sat 6 months without after run...

OUCH, I would hate to see what the inside of the motor looks like.

Pedeboi - U get that nitro motor running yet? .15; 2.5; or 3.3? I had a T-Maxx 2.5r and a Revo 3.3 before I discovered electric. I had a problem with both once. I was running the 2.5r without an air filter, it was easier to get it started if I squirted some fuel right in the carb, as soon as I made one run across the parking lot it started raining and I kept driving for a few minutes. I put it away without anything, I never used after run oil. Next time I went to start it, it wouldn't even turn over. It was a pain to get it all apart but I eventually got the piston and sleeve seperated. I used a little torch lighter to heat up the sleeve, put a screw driver between the case and sleeve, and kept trying to turn it over. I also kept spraying wd-40 in there, eventually I broke the bond and got the whole motor apart. I used nothing but an old sock to polish the sleeve back up untill the piston wouldn't stick, then I put it all back together. Never had another problem. The 3.3 stopped at TDC once and wouldn't turn over again, did the same thing with it and it ran fine. Nitro is a PITA but when they are running right they can be fun, but that rarely happens. Weather changes so much here I could never get a decent tune on them.

its amazing howw moisture can get into the motors and unless you live in the desert like I do its mandatory to use oil after a run, when I was running nitros I would use Marvel Mystery oil as a cheaper alternative

well, i haven't run the truck in a while, but i got new parts. update will come when im on my comp and not my PS3

SO you're not going to do a BL conversion ?

pedeboi364 01.20.2009 07:08 PM

i don't think so. I'm really into engines, and i already have a pede so I think I'll take an adventure...
