emaxx or crt.5??
Well i was sitting here pricing brushless things out and thought about something. For about the same price as it would be to make my emaxx brushless i could buy a crt.5 and make it brushless. Emaxx would get the following:
MMM= $280 Pinion= $20 After S+H= $320(or around that price) Now i found a crt.5 on ebay. It would get the following: Crt.5= $180 after shipping MM= $170 OR VXL= $145 (which do you guys think is better?) Pinion= $15 After S+H= ~$380(MM) $355(VXL) Now i know that it would cost about $60 more BUT i have an hpi mt2 im about to sell for $120. So i would take that money and put it torwards the Crt.5 which would mean i would only be spending about $260 all together. If i take that $120 and put it torwards the emaxx i would spend about $220. I have a little more than $510 in the bank. So after everything i would still have about $265 in the bank. But i can tell you right now its gonna take alot of butt kissing to convince my parents to let me spend over $300 dollars on just motor and esc. But if im spending that money on a whole other truck there wont be as much butt kissing involved. So after all this BS i just typed and after everything you just read... what would you do? Brushless maxx or brushless Crt.5? Open to all opinions. :mdr: Btw heres the link to both Crt's I was looking at RTR: http://cgi.ebay.com/Ofna-Crt-5-RTR-w...3A1%7C294%3A50 Race Roller: http://cgi.ebay.com/JAMMIN-MINI-5-CR...3A1%7C294%3A50 |
I would go for the CRT.5 but I'm biased against traxxas due to some experiences
|
I have an emaxx so I'll take the CRT. In fact, i'll buy the rtr and then sell the rest of the nitro stuff. Use that money towards buying your brushless parts.

I'd get an emaxx. I have a crt.5 and never use it for anything at all and find either my revo or rustler (Depending on conditions) is more fun to drive anywhere I might pull out the crt.5. I guess it also depends what other cars you have...
|
It all depends on what type of driving you do. I run mostly at my local indoor track and at my buddys backyard track (large for a backyard) and the crt.5 is the way to go. It runs circles around monsters or for that matter 1/8 scale race vehicles at either of those tracks. However, if I mostly bashed (deep grass, sand, whatever) then the emaxx would be better.

Dont Forget Your Going To Need A Motor Mount For The Crt.5
|
I Have both and they are both really nice trucks. The CRT.5 handles like a dream, and if you jump 99% of the time you will land the jump. The E-Maxx s more of a basher. I have a VXL motor in mine on 12 cell nimh and it runs great. the only part I really break is the bulkheads. IMO the CRT.5 is the way to go.

CRT.5 is 10x more durable than an e-maxx. Once I built mine I sold my rustler and have no regrets! CRT.5 will outperform a rustler in any condition. I wouldn't bother with a VXL system or mm combo, go for the gold any get a mm and medusa motor! At the very least a mm and feigao so you can get a 5mm shaft, otherwise you'll need a pinion and bore reduced
|
I am going to get a medusa motor for mine soon, because my little vxl gets pretty toasty. I vote CRT.5 again though.
|
I would go with the e-maxx. It has so much aftermarket you can easily get lost in it.

Here is my crt.5 w/Mike's conversion....

I love my E Maxx, but you will end up needing to upgrade almost everything to make it strong enough to handle the speed and power of the brushless system.
