Hyperion 606i AC/DC Charger
 

Here is the charger I plan to purchase from Monster Mike.

I have not fully switched over to Lipo yet and wonder how well it work's with NiMh packs.

No need for an external power supply either, is that correct?


I will probably start off with a small Lipo for my crawler and then go 4S in my 8ight.

Any other help, tips, or opinions about this Hyperion charger would be appreciate.

it will only have an output of 50 watts, as long as your 4s pack isnt any bigger than 2500 mah you"ll be ok....it does have a builtin PS

I don't get this part. It says it can go up to 6amps. So you could charge a 4s 6000mah at 1c right?

Don't understand the 4s - 50 watts - 2500mah connection. Could you help me understand the connection?

Great charger but it isn't powerful. It will charge a 2s pack at 6A, 4s is right around 3amps iirc. Great charger for nimh and a beginer lipo charger. I sold mine to get a duo, otherwise, great charger.

you would need to get the 80% of the chargers PSs output ( for effiency) and get 40 watts and divide that by 14.8 and you would get get 2.7 this would be the max amperage you would get from the charger. In order to charge a 6s 4000 pack you would need about 100 watts, to charge one of my 6s 5000 packs it takes about 130 watts from the PS

It is a great charger and if you are not in a massive hurry it works fine - I have one of these and 2 5i's...

Just curious, what then are you guys using to charge the larger packs??

Hyperion duo or 0610net.

i have the 0610 net w/ 25 amp supply and love it for my 5s.

after a cheap initial charger. i bit the bullet, shelled out some cash and bought quality, and i'm glad i did.

buy it once get it right, glad i changed my cheap ass ways :lol:

I've been using the MRC989 since I went lipos. It's a nice charger for lipos and nihms. It doesn't have a built in balancer is the only thing that it could use to make it better. It does come with a ps for it at about the same price as what you were looking at. I've never used any other charger for lipos so can't comment on them.

I have the 0610i charger and the ofna 18 amp PS.....more than enough to charge a 6s 5000 pack, when I was shopping for the PS I wasnt thinking so much to match the PS max output but how much power I thought I would need to charge the biggest pack I might need.....sometimes I wished I would have bought a Duo

I have a r/c buddy/friend locally, actually 2 guys, who use the 989 and charge Lipo's with it. I have had GREAT luck and really like all the MRC chargers. I've had 2 959's and I presently use a 977 Pro. But the 977 isnt Lipo friendly. And I gotta run a lipo in my crawler.

I swore I'd get a 989 next but I guess I have a bug up my butt for a Hyperion. Guess, I better get a couple of Lipo's now, huh?

I found a deal on a used 606i so I guess I will have a go at the Hyperion in a few days no doubt. :yes:

I have my 977 Pro charger on ebay but I think I'm gonna pull it. I would be going from a dual charger to a single charger. :gasp: And that didnt seem like the best idea for now.

You know I totally understand on that. Although I have not had any problems with the SB989 and it's handled every battery that I've had so far. If I was going to get additional charger. I would want something else beside the SB989. I mean wouldn't it get old going to bed every night with the same set of wrigley twins for the rest of your life?

Yeh I am using the 0610i NET with a 24v 13A supply. Thinking of getting another to network them when I start playing with my 10S setup. Great chargers.

I'm using a 0610iNet as well - 25a 13.8v supply and its nice on a123s - my 5S1P pacs at 10amps, a little more than 20min, ready to go again!

I'm waiting for Xmas CC bill and when thats paid, I'm doing another one with a networking cable. I have a spare 20a, 13.8v supply to run that with. Rumor has it my postphoned B'day present is a HPI Sav Flux!
