Difference between DX3R and DX3S
Is the telementry just added to the dx3r or is there other options that are dropped when you get the DX3S. I like the telementry concept especially for temp control but If I losing options by getting it instaed of the dx3r then I will consider. Also anyone know how accurate they are?? Thanks

I know the handle is different and it feels "cheaper".

You can't mix the aux channel with the throttle like you can with the DX3R, only mixes with the steering. Kind of a bummer for those who like to mix mechanical brakes in with their throttle.:bad:

The DX3R uses DSM2 technology, it's faster responding than the original DSM that the DX3S. Also the R will work with both DSM1 and DSM2 rx's where the S will only work with DSM1 rx's. I had thought about selling my R to get the S cause I like the idea of knowing the temps and voltage as I'm running but since I already have a couple DSM2 rx's and they aren't compatible with the S I decided not to do it.

Wow no mixing for mech brakes is huge as this was the route I was heading....plus the incompatibility with the DXm2 suxs as well. Well I am glad I asked before making the wrong choice. Thanks guys.

FWIW: the DSM1 vs DSM2 isn't really noticeable unless you are really looking for every microsecond of response time. For racing, it can help (although I never noticed it), but for bashing, it's not needed IMO.
Despite the fact I have the DX3r, I'm only using one DSM2 rx, the rest of my vehicles use a regular spek rx because of price and availability locally. The telemetry in the S would be nice, but as long as the setup is done right and temps are monitered for the first few runs to verify, a temp sensor is extra fluff. And rpm sensor is good for what? To measure speed? That's what a GPS/radar is for (and more accurate because of tire balooning). I suppose rx/system battery voltage monitor would be nice, but not sure if it has that. Just my $0.02... |

Ok then, that would be the only reason for me to get it...

I have only run with the temp sensor once. But it was good to find out that motor temps were highest when I stopped running the truck. Makes sense though as at that point there's no airflow. So it might be good to do some slow driving at the end.
edit: the dx3s also has a timer. I like that about it too. |

DX3R has a timer too |
so does the s

What about picking up one of these and using what you need?

Not sure if it was mentioned already, but the S has a 10 model memory and the R has a 30 model memory. My fleet is getting close to exceeding the S capabilities, so it's nice to have a few extra slot available...

Also, what are the street prices on both the 3r and 3s? I could look it up but I am lazy... |
