Could have messed up a pack, not sure?

Ok guys here is my situation. I used a lipo, its my Protek 5S 4000MAH pack. I think I accidentally used it twice, so I go to plug it into the lST today and its saying low voltage. OK so thats fine whatever.

Plug it into my charger and my balancing tap from the pack is not working.

Now the packs got 15.4V in it, so im assuming thats like just above 3V per cell unless one cell dropped off, I dont know because the balance plug dont work.

(The charger is fine, its the packs plug that dont work).

Now if I go to charge it unbalanced it asks if its a 4S and its not so I cant hit enter? I dont kno if I should charge it without the blaancer or what?

FWIW im using a Hyperion Duo.

put it in a lipo sack for the sake of your house and stop it at 21v lol

Sounds like one cell has been disconnected from the balance tap. That would explain why your charger thinks your pack is a 4 cell. If its not a connection problem at the plug, you may have to undo the heatshrink to reconnect the detached wire.

Alright I guess ill take it apart then and see if a wire has come undone.

Can I just electrical tape this thing back togeather when im done? I dont have any heat shrink wrapping.

you need to silver solder the bad boy if somethings disattached. PM lincpimp ill just catch you on fire

PapaGeno21 01.11.2009 08:25 PM

What do you mean silver solder?

Like normal soldering iron and flux core solder?

Have fun, you did not state it was a protek in the pm. You will have to remove the shrink and then remove the white foam/glue crap that is all over the tap end of the lipo. The wires are all embedded in that. I would be very careful when you do this, and then check the continuity of each balancer wire with a multimeter. You may have a broken tap wire, inside of the insulation. It has happened before, as the wires are not really protected. You may also try cleaning the tap plug before you do anything, as it may just be a bad contact...

Pics would be nice...

I had to repair my freinds 5s 4k protek, you need a sharp exacto, patience and a steady hand.

Or a bat with a nail on the end of it.

Pics wont do anything as it just looks like a normal pack. lol

Every once in a while the balance didnt want to read, so I think im gonna try to clean the tap right now, before I decide to even try taking this crap off the side of it.
