Nitro sucks!!!!!!
 

So last week i put a bid in on a MBX5T on ebay cuz it was cheap and no reserve. i didnt not expect to win at all but apparently i did. so the thing got here a couple of days ago and i sat down to start working on it.....YUCK!!!
i mean, i am not afraid to get dirty. i spend hours in the garage and sometimes will come in covered in carbon fiber dust from head to foot but how anyone can even drive a nitro is beyond me. it totally ruins your ride. all i have had are 1/8 brushless conversions. i buy the kit new and the conversion new and have never even seen nitro. i did have nitro like 6 years ago but only drove it a couple of times. anyway, God bless the brushless industry. May we take the world by storm! And please bless the feeble minded nitro drivers that they may be converted to a faster, cleaner, truck with the power of BRUSHLESS!!! YEEEEEHAAAAWW!!


btw, i will post some before and after pics of the Mugen when i get done. Ryu is going to perform a Brushless Baptizm!! Full immersion! :lol:

I've picked up a few of those rides on the bay myself. They sure can be nastly.

Even when you get a clean one it seems its been sprayed with some sort of cleaning fluid and you have to tear the car down to clean this stuff out of all the nooks and crannies.

I'll be interested to see your before and after pics. Can we expect to see a carbon fiber chassis on this one when your done?

its at the mill as we speak. well, i have the truggy here but my carbon fiber and chassis drawing is at the machine shop. still waiting on the rc8t though. i will test that first and if the carbon survives torture then fab will begin on the Mugen. kinda have to wait on my machine guy. if it were my equipment they would be done. it will probably still be a week or two before i get to the Mugen for sure.

i just saw your RC8t thread. it looks good. that is a very unique layout. cool idea where you put your brakes. so do you run a hybrid brake setup?

I bought (traded) for a muggy all nitro, he gave me some stick drain router thing you're supposed to start the motor with. I took it all off in 5 minutes put it in a ziplock freezer bag handed it to him and said bye. Stinky dirty crap, I used a whole bolttle of simple green and 1 whole big can of wd40 to get this puppy clean. Stank machines

Like I mentioned before though, I always seem to get better lap times when I run with no brakes at all :lol:

I have both nitro and brushless vehicles and I can tell you that both can get dirty. It just depends on how the owner takes care of their trucks.

so long as its RC and runs im down, but lets agree brushless electric doesnt need to be pull started 9 times while spewing oil/gas out of pours you didnt know leaked to get it started and burn your eyes

A bunch of nitro haters here. The reason I havent coverted earlier is I have allways heard bad things about the electric brushless trucks ecm burning up and lipo batts catching on fire and ruining your $500+ truck. With the new technologys I am sure people are going switch but its going to take a little time because the smell of burnt rc's and fried electronics is way worse then the smell of nitro.

lol fair enough, but those days are pretty much over. Far less common than your nitro flame outs or dead glow plugs. A solid electric will run for years, or 13 months I can attest to. Guarantee id smoke(less) you too. Anytime any place your chioce of vehicles. MT, Truggy, Buggy, 1/10th name it, if your "nitro wins" ill ...wear your hat

Well so far the fastest proven top speed for a revo is 66mph held by a nitro on the Traxxas forum. Hmm Let see wheres that hat with the propeller on it LOL. I can tell you what my full Supermaxx with an eb modded novarossi 528 xrp definatly is no slouch. I expect it to go ~65mph because I have heard a lower powered SM go 72mph. Cmon I still see you guys having problems with burning up ecms and frying $300 brushless motors you cant say electrics dont have their problems also, lets be honest. I plan on doing a conversion on one of my trucks and have been reading alot on this forum for about 2 weeks. Ive see all of the problems you guys are still having I just dont want to put down the cash and have any issues. You must realize nitro is proven and has been around a long time for rc's. If your going to bash it makes me want to ask that person if they drive a 1:1 gasoline or deisel powered vehicle and if so their a hypocrite for not driving a hybrid or electric car. Yes I know electrics are the future and nitros are on their way out. But until then nitros are still on top untill the brushless mills start winning more races.

Come on, did you really expect to find a bunch of nitro lovers here? I spend tons of dough on Brushless and all things electric RC (ask my wife cuz she puts up with my affliction) so my opinion is most definetly biased. I love electric RC and will refuse to run nitro at ALL costs. The only reason I put up with nitro is that there has not been enough people to run an electric 8th scale class at my track but that is beginning to change.

You must be hanging out on newbie forums if all you have ever heard of is a bunch of flaming esc's and lipo's. I've been running brushles for 5 years in MTs' and 8th scales and have never smoked a Lipo. I was on the FMA Direct band wagon when the 20C Kokam scorpian & skyvolt packs came out and have been a Lipo user ever since. If someone invests $500+ in a RC, they should perform the due diligence needed to learn what they are doing before their investment goes up in flames.

Fact of the matter is electronics only stink when they fail... nitro's always stink.
It's not really a hard decision when you ask yourself, do I want a loud stinky messy truck or a quite one that has more power than I can handle. The only advantage nitro has is the ability of a quick pit in a 30 minute main but the end of these days is in sight.

The sad thing is that these "Technologies" have been around for years, it has just taken the US market a long time to finally come around to supporting it. I feel like us old guys that spent the big $$$ in the begining kept the drive alive until it's finally caught on. I for one am a happy camper these days because the prices are comming down as well as a larger variety of choices becomming available.

It seems I hear of a new person at my local track working on converting their 8th scale to brushless every week and I expect to see this trend continue. Once the "big players" decide to produce a production desinged electic 8th scale we should see another boom in the growth of this class of racing. Some nay sayers tought that 8th scale elecric racing is a fad like the days of the crt.5 but this seems very short sited as it seems to me that the interest in the 8th scale class is not going to fade like the 12th scale class did and more nitro racers will convert from the dark side as well as 10th scale racers make a move up to the big leagues.
