Is the item made of steel? Use a magnet and search the area. It seems to me that actually looking for it in your shop, would be much less trouble than trying to find someone else that has a spare, and having it shipped to you.

That's what I use a plastic bag when installing those rod ends. If it pops off, they just stay inside the plastic bag.

Good luck finding it.
