chassis help....
 

I've got a second hand, but basically new, xtreme carbon fibre brushless maxx chassis. The chassis is awsome, and my truck now handles like a 1/10th on-road.

However, for some reason I keep on stripping spurs very very very quickly (about 2 hard accelerations). I'm using the stock slipper/spur set-up with 12 pegs, and I'm running a 2000XL on 18cells (ie. gobs of torque). I think I've narrowed the problem down to the mount mount; as far as I can see its twisting under the torque, and hence altering the mesh between the pinion and spur. I'm using the motor mount in this photo, http://www.xtremercracing.com/Images/BLBSIDE.jpg . I don't want to use the stock motor mount, because that will raise the CoG a lot.
I wonder if using the strobe slipper with a blue delrin spur would solve this problem, or if anyone else has had this problem and how did they fix it?

Id say use a strobe slipper with a ofna spur, and youd need a mod 1 pinion for the motor, that should work for that powerful application.

ok, no problem, but if you want the greatest gear mesh , and longest lasting setup than id use the strobe slipper, and ofna spur, maybe theres better but i havent seen any other gears out there.

Thicker motormount. Even with a strobe slipper you might still have the problem of wearing the spur's instead of stripping them.

might want to consider adding a brace. i dont know if you can fabricate things or not but just by the looks of it a rear aluminum brace off of a 1/8th scale buggy might work with a little modification.

Yeah i'd agree that mount looks a little thin although the basic xls aren't heavy.I think squee's suggesting to triangulate the plate itself with a brace which is a good idea,(a buggy chassis brace or some turnbuckes),or you could make a thicker mount from some 1/4" aluminium angle or you could make a holder for the rear of the motor.BK make these(see pic) which makes it alot easier.
I also recommend the mod1 strobe slipper.
