Revo Mod 1 Spur

Anybody know where I can get a Mod 1 spur that is compatible with the stock revo/maxx slipper and that is also larger than 40T? 51T is really what I'm looking for but cant find one that will fit on the stock revo slipper.

Anybody have a workaround?

Revo spurs are titchy yeah- the most common work around is to use something like MGT spurs I believe, they have a 51t spur thats MOD1. At worst you just have to enlarger the holes slightly for the screws to fit that bolt it to the slipper plate thingy.

If you don't mind using 32p, Jato spurs work. IIRC, maxx and the E-Revo use 32p system on the Revo style slipper as well.

If you want specifically mod1, then modifications will be necessary. Or, see if Mike could make an adaptor to allow you to use your 51t spurs...

MGT Mod 1 spurs are your best bet. They come in 46,47,49,52T. Tower has them.

What about a savage slipper assembly? Has anybody tried one of theses? Seems like this woud work fine:

My problem is this:
<table style="width:auto;"><tr><td><a href="http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/6C1uOdWZ1xhpyCnInLAu0Q?feat=embedwebsite"><img src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_Go2PcH5NPr4/R9HsW2S_kZI/AAAAAAAABl0/t-kca8ar9fg/s800/IMG_2158.JPG" /></a></td></tr><tr><td style="font-family:arial,sans-serif; font-size:11px; text-align:right">From <a href="http://picasaweb.google.com/ssspconcepts/Revo?feat=embedwebsite">Revo</a></td></tr></table>

My motor "bottoms out" on the tranny case before the gears mesh together. I guess I could use like a 25T pinion:oh::gasp: But I don't think that would mix well with the electronics. I was thinking that since the savage slipper also rides on a 5mm input shaft that it would be a fairly straight forward mod.

Do you have any pics of the installation/mod? Thanks.

Open up the center hole slightly so a 5x10mm bearing will fit in it. The revo uses a 5x11mm bearing stock. Then just drill out 3 of the smaller holes to 5mm so that the posts on the slipper can pass thru and reuse the existing bolts that hold the spur on. I will try to get some pics of a modded mgt spur next to stock mgt spur. Really easy, you can enlarge the center and side holes with a body reamer if necessary, as long as the center hole is concentric the spur will run true.

Linc, I saw in some older threads that you were tinkering with a savage slipper...would that work?

The MGT spurs work great with some modding. Here's a 52 tooth Mod 1 on my E maxx with a Medusa Motor and a 18 tooth Mod 1 Motor gear.

Just don't mind the carnage. I had an accident. LOL

Notice, there is alot of room in the adjustment to allow for a bigger motor pinion or a smaller one. It's pretty close to the middle with a 18 tooth.

I have tinkered with savage slippers, but they are not as good as the revo spec slipper. Best to just mod the mgt spurs and run them. I never did put a savage slipper on a revo, only slipper swap was putting the revo spec unit on an old emaxx tranny.

Right on...thanks for the help:yes:

I just ordered an MGT gear for about $3.50 so that is a cheap investment if I screw it up.

i had problem with BL motor bottoming out on trani and just went with larger(more teeth) pinion gear...up from 16t to 18t solved the problem!!

Yeah...unfortunately going up a couple of teeth doesn't buy me much. I need a larger spur. Last year I switched out all of my strobe slippers for the revo spec slipper due to the availability of (or lack thereof) strobe slipper pads. My problem is that revo spurs only go up to 40T...so I'd need to use a 25T pinion...which really isn't safe to do because of the load it would put on the electronics. I am going to try the MGT mod and see how that works. I also have sent mike an email to see if he could make me an aluminum adapter put that would allow me to use 51T Ofna gears with the revo slipper.

i have tons of slipper pads if you need a couple sets?

I appreciate the offer but my strobes are long gone. I just wanted to switch when the supply stream started to dry up.
