Motor amps?
 

Hi guys, just bought a medusa 36-60-2000 and a tekno neu 15151y Q and I was planning to use this motors with true rc 8000a 10c because I like their prices and quality but the tekno draws 110a at burst but it can´t draw 80a cont right? Because that is what the batteries can handle.
And the medusa dosen´t draw that much either?
And they will work with a mm I heard?
I will be using this in an e-revo e-maxx and maybe an bl buggy.

I don't know how to answer your question but I will say: There are alot of things that determine the amp draw from a battery.

The esc, motor, vehicle, traction, gearing, driving style.

I will just add that I would be afraid to run any battery that was only 10c in one of my conversions.

+1. Voltage is your friend; higher voltage on a lower kv motor will draw less current. Gearing lower, smooth terrain, being easy on startups, some ESC settings (punch control and timing) also help keep current down. For 8th scale anything, I would say 4s minimum.

If you plan to use 4s, you might as well get the MMM instead. By the time you buy the MM and a UBEC, you have just about spent the same as a MMM which has a BEC built-in. And the MMM is rated for higher voltage and current to boot, so you can run up to 6s.

The MM/MMM works well with Neu and Medusa motors with version 1.20 firmware or higher. Older revs work, but 1.20 is much smoother and the startup algorithm is MUCH better.

Seriously I woudnt buy lipos that are rated below 20C, well its 8Ah but still...
Those might work, but id look for lipos that can provide atleast 100A cont (example 5Ah 20C).
When you look for those specs, allways leave small gap for amps, that what motor need to what batterys can provide, so you can avoid batterys from heating.

My emaxx 3905 geared for 38mph is about 35A continuous and 78A peak. I know the more efficient motors peak higher. If you are looking for a little extra the SPC 8000mah pack is rated for 100A continiuos and around the same price. I have run the truerc packs and SPC packs on this setup and they hold their voltage and never get hot. In general though its good advice to get higher C rating, but it depends on the manufacture. Not all of them are as trustworthy as others. I have had 20C 5000mah packs that dont even come close to the truerc and spc packs rated at 10 and 12C.

What info is it you desire exactly?

There are literally dozens of lower spec lipos that will perfrom perfectly fine and with a good price, but going cheap & high mah isnt going to give the same results as a more pricey lower mah battery with higher C ratings. High powered setup needs high powered batteries at the end of the day, and you get what you pay for generally, so buy the right thing first time rather than skimping on quality.

SPC and Zippy are two names to look into for good quality, lower priced lipos that still pack a punch.

I have the castle/neu 1515 1y and I also have a set of the 8000 10c true rc. They do great! They do better than all 4 of my enerland 6000mah 25c lipos(rated at 150amps). So I dont see a problem running the 8k 10c. My 8000s have gotten as hot as 125*F but that is really getting on it(ran the battery down in 18mins of hard bashing) The true rc battes have more punch and 1.8mph more top speed than the enerlands
