my buddy wants to put a cen 7.7 5hp into his savage-x a i just wanted to know what you needed to do so because i do all the work on his savage / research. is the pinion gear the same pitch as a savage spur. what do we need what do we need to mod... tvp? do we need a new motor mount? will the motor mount for the cen 7.7 mount on the savage-x. i do not have this motor yet i just want to know what is included in this mod? any help would be GREAT? thanks

I would use a O.S .30 before the Cen motor. it is more usable power and you wont have to work as hard to keep the O.S tuned

from experience the cen 7.7 sucks!! It is a pia to tune and keep running. I have two of them, and if I had the money I would be converting to brushless.

ok so does any one have any recommendations. he wants something with lots of power he has a fair amount of aluminum and 3 speed trans and wants wheelies

As this is primarily a brushless forum and RCM sells really good brushless Neu motors for converting Nitro into something more user and environmentally friendly it would make sense to get say a 1515/1/y or even a 1521/1/y and call it a day. Either of these motors will give him more torque then he is probably used to, and the experience will be a much more fulfilling and enjoyable one in the long run.
