My Medusa killed my Muggy
After about 12 hours of use, my center diff is toast :diablo: Waiting for the snow to melt out of the chassis so I can pull it apart and examine the damage. Will post pics.
So far nothing but great performance and cool temps out of this motor, but I'm thinking that a 70mm replacement may be in order  |
Muwahahahaaa..... *evil grin* More power!!!!!!
|
Pretty much :diablo: The clacking/popping noise coming from your diff will take that evil grin off your face in a hurry though
|
Yeah. I used to get that from the Rustler a lot... Can/did you upgrade the diff?
|
Stock Muggy diffs are really tough. I haven't pulled it apart to see exactly what happened yet but I'm not sure if there's a tougher solution or not. I found a brand new diff with bulkheads and brakes (not like I need them) for $5 though, I'm going to pick that up regardless of what I find inside.

Nice find. Is that an eBay thing?

I would accept partial responsibility..........

Don't worry about it. Looks like another false call on my count (thought the front diff was out the other day and it's still like new). I pulled the CD out and it looks absolutely perfect. The sound was coming from the CD area, I'm going to check the pinion and make sure it wasn't loose and that noise was the set screw grinding on the flat spot. You can tell I used to own nothing but Traxxas stuff, I'm used to stuff breaking when it could be something far less complicated.

Dam telephone boxes jump up out of nowhere, ya know? :mdr: |
Telephone boxes, mail boxes, neighbor's cat, they all come out of nowhere
Now I'm stumped, the front and center diffs are immaculate and the grub screw is absolutely locked onto the motor shaft and isn't slipping at all. I'll get some video of it and see what people make of it. |
How about the grub screw for the center shaft to the front and rear diffs?

Took it out to film it and hit the throttle and it made a horrific noise. Held the thing still with my foot and the front center shaft spun without the wheels spinning and now the only way I can drive it is RWD and with the CD diffing out a bit. I'll mess with it more tomorrow. |
Well, it was pretty much the only thing else it could have been. The Muggy driveline isn't that complicated after all...

I've had it apart a lot recently for various stuff. I'll screw with it tomorrow. I stripped down my AR-15 and re-cleaned it instead  |
