My road Slash...
VXL running 29/76 gearing on Zippy 3s 5000 packs. A few little mods from STRC like bellcranks, shock caps and rear hubs (mostly stuff that has broken or popped off), a chopped suspension setup and the bodyshell dropped through the mounts. Removed front bumper and cut the hardcore bodyshell long at the front for a splitter and got the Epic beadlocks with some heavily strapped Road Dawgs on the front and even more heavily strapped Strikers on the rear.
Dunno how quick it is (gearing would put it around 60-65), but it doesn't take off anymore like the stock truck which is a fair old achievement. So have some terrible pictures (it's been snowing for like 2 days and we haven't seen daylight in a while, don't like flash you can see dirt lol). http://img5.imageshack.us/img5/5694/dscf0135xa1.jpg http://img243.imageshack.us/img243/9210/dscf0128ea7.jpg http://img243.imageshack.us/img243/9639/dscf0126kb3.jpg Where from here? MMM with a Medusa 3100-60 V2 and 5s lipo i reckon. I would have done it before but I got mixed up in the B-P-P farce and lost $300. Still trying to reclaim an MMM and motor. |
That truck looks cool...I love how the body tire/combo looks. Well done! Any pics. of the underside to see how you changed it....my co-worker has one and may be interested in how you did your mods.

Underneath it looks like a normal Slash. All I did to get it that low was to stick some travel limiters in the shocks in the form of fuel tubing. The main thing accomplished here is that it doesn't wheely and doesn't lift off at high speed. Aerodynamics on this truck are loads better than stock.

that looks like alot of fun, i never could get my slash over 65 mph on 3 cell, should be alot of fun either way.
bpp.com screwed over alot of people, i hope you get your stuff |
I helped a few members here with their b-p-p orders, and they got them. I'm happy to help another member, you can pm me contact info and your order and I can try to help.

Now thats cool. Think you gave me some ideas for what to do with my Slash.

Thanks for the positive comments guys. Much appreciated. Had to change rear tyres as they were disappearing faster than I could put them on. After three runs they were looking like this:
http://img205.imageshack.us/img205/9241/dscf0136tt1.jpg Now gone to some Schumacher Venom on road tyres which look like Traxxas Anacondas and there is a marked improvement both in wear and grip. Much better than spending £25 on new tyres every 6 runs lol. |
Wow, that's some serious wear. Some of the longest lasting tires I've ever used onroad were the HPI/Yokohama Geolandar 2.2 tires, they held up to quite a bit of abuse and got better traction than any onroad tire I have ever tried.
Check your right-rear spring retainer (the piece on the bottom that holds the spring in), looks like it's not seated properly. |
I like it...
Maybe the jayco foams would be a better tire choice? Or the big steamrollers off drag cars... Only issue with those is the different offset front to rear. I have a body-less slash that I was wondering what to do with. I may copy your setup for speed trials... I wonder how well it will handle serious speed? |

Ummm it's the same as a Rustler/Pede/Bandit. So it will handle power just like they do; which is very well, if you set it up properly.

Well, my Ruster's diff has held up to 4s and a 1940/7 pretty well. I agree; a spider diff would be soooo nice. Though the diff case is so small I wonder if the spider gears that would fit would actually be any stronger.

If used for speed run the starting load would not be that great. I am not going to drag it, just do some top speed runs! I am more interested in the aerodymanics of the body... Not the best choice but it does look cool!
I need to get my other speed vehicles going again, then branch out after some success! |
