charging MMMv3 caps slowly
as expected you get a pretty big spark from the MMM when you plug it in.
this is just the phase caps charging i assume. is there any way we can charge them slowly? ive seen it done with the mamba max but not on the monster max. any idea's? shaun |
You are probably referring to using a resistor? Patrick from CC specifically said not to do this with the MM or MMM. Something about the arming sequence being different than an aircraft ESC and could cause damage to the logic circuits.

so just put up with it and replace the deans plugs every 6 months??

you shouldnt need to replace the connectors unless they melt for some reason

I know what he's saying. After repeated sparks, the contacts can get pitted and charred, which obviously increases contact resistance.

You are right, I mis-remembered something I read a while ago:
http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showp...7&postcount=43 Looks like Patrick is a proponent of no-spark on their airplane ESCs: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showp...32&postcount=8 |
From what I gathered (and my reading comprehension is 100%) the slow charge of the caps can cause issues if the speedo is switched on...
