charging MMMv3 caps slowly
 

as expected you get a pretty big spark from the MMM when you plug it in.
this is just the phase caps charging i assume.

is there any way we can charge them slowly?
ive seen it done with the mamba max but not on the monster max.

any idea's?

You are probably referring to using a resistor? Patrick from CC specifically said not to do this with the MM or MMM. Something about the arming sequence being different than an aircraft ESC and could cause damage to the logic circuits.

so just put up with it and replace the deans plugs every 6 months??:wink:

you shouldnt need to replace the connectors unless they melt for some reason

I know what he's saying. After repeated sparks, the contacts can get pitted and charred, which obviously increases contact resistance.

I though he said just not with the MM/MMM/sidewinders. Hmm. I used a no-spark circuit with my HV110 and it worked fine while I was using it.

From what I gathered (and my reading comprehension is 100%) the slow charge of the caps can cause issues if the speedo is switched on...

Good point, I hope Patrick or Joe can jump on here and provide some guidance because my TRX connectors have pitted before and I expect it will happen my new MMM setup.

It's sure a lot better than replacing the ESC on a more frequent basis. :wink:

that just reminds me. my MMM does not spark anymore while plugging in my lipos. why did this happen. im not sure when it stopped, but its the V1 MMM and it used to spark everytime i plug in them lipos. and now nothing...is it becuase my lipos are getting weaker?

I noticed that one time mine didn't spark either but then it started again so I cannot put my finger on it. If they were getting quite a bit weaker I expect you will see the difference while driving.

Only the tips of Deans get pitted, etc. The contacts are on the side, so I don't see why they would have to be replace so often. The same for bullet connectors.....

If the MMM is turned on while no battery is connected the caps will discharge. Then you have a spark the next time you plug them in. If the caps remain charged (not turning in on without a battery) then it will not spark, or, the spark will be much smaller.
