new emaxx

Well, I ran my new emaxx for the first time after some upgrades. New shocks (powerstrokes, (60wt in bypass which I think is essentail), titanium tie rods, MIP CVD'S, 3mm skid plates, 64 tooth spur gear, Stainless Steel Hinge Pin set (which was a bitch, Damn little circlips!!!!), Aluminum Hex Hub Set, and Blue heat sinks. It was fun running up and down the street and in the neighbors lawn ( they don't mind !!!!) . I hope it runs better on the second and third run once the brushes wear in. ( I hope you people out there will tell me yes). I have yet to receive 2 C cell ni cads to make 2 seven cell packs which I hope will make a big difference in top speed. It was fun shifting gears, and i think braking regeneritive technology ( wether real or not - at least in the rc world ) is a good idea. The only problem I had was the right rear wheel had a little wobble, but after I took it off and re-attached it, it was fine. Any new experiences or problems out there with your Christmas presents let me know. I'll do the same.

Good to know it all went well, yes, those little e-clips are a PITA, the 7 cells will make a huge difference!

I hope so. Or I will need to spend more $$$$$$$$!!!!!!

Sylvester 12.23.2005 11:29 PM

The first things you might need to replace are diffs, and bulks from first glance once you start bashing!

O.K. ..................... your starting to scrare me. I thought with the mods I made I would be pretty safe if i took it (somewhat) easy on this thing.?

Sylvester 12.23.2005 11:42 PM

If you take it easy, you wont have any problems for a long time!

oh yeah, I forgot, I spent $8 on RPM front and rear bulkheads which was a TOTAL waste of $$$. No better than stock.:M:

Sylvester 12.23.2005 11:46 PM

RPM makes bulkheads? i think your talking about bulkhead BRACES, those are actually pretty good!

Well, my purpose is to find things to climb, and occasoinally race with my nephew, (whether he has my emaxx or visa versa). I gave him my LOSI XXX-T MF which I wasn't that impressed with ( and that is even comparred with my origional RC-10T "TEAM" Truck. Can't beat that stealth tranny !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. I bought one on EBAY a year ago in BRAND NEW CONDITION that i'm holding onto. Better than gold.

Yes, Braces. But they are no stronger than stock. Unless they did some pretty high tech crash studies!!!!?????:D

crazyjr 12.24.2005 12:35 AM

so long as you run the stock motors you will be ok. I ran a Emaxx for two years racing and it held up well.

one tip: Use motor cleaner to get all the grease out of the bearings and replace it with a light oil it will free up the drivetrain, but could increase the maintenance, depends on where you play

The powerstroke bypass shocks don't feel like they are dampening at all, but the resistance gets bigger if they are pushed in, because of their extra flush holes in the body.

With a light truck, the 30 wt that comes with the shocks feels really spongy, but i can guarantee you it won't bottom out, from the highest drops!
