Neucastle motors quality?
 

I am wondering if anyone knows how well the neucastle motors do compared to the neu motors made my neu. I'm talking about efficiency / reliability and power. And what about build quality? Is there a big difference between the two? Where are the neucastle motors made?

Motors are made in China - Too early to say for sure but based on the quality of the components and some features - protected windings etc

I'd say equivalent...

They are allot cheaper and I do need 4-5 of them to finish my projects, maybe I'll give it a few more months and let you guys pound on them for awhile before I put one in all my toys. Surely someone has both and has used them in the same vehicle and can tell me what run times and punch are like.

I've had them since Sep and really they seem as good as my Neu...

Why? Castle's warranty is good as gold. I'd say go ahead and get some motors!

I will try one, it makes sense to save money. Well if they are good solid motors with a great warranty I guess I'll have to try them. They do look good and dont need an enbell cover, I'm also wanting to know if they run as cool and if they are the same diameter.

Wow the hpi version is big, more fins better cooling hmmmm, That might be a good one to use in the fastlane savage! And the smaller 42mm might be good for the rc8 buggy to help me use smaller pinions.

I'm not sure much difference in actual surface area as the fins are more large blocks... I've not actually weighed them side by side..

No load currents are a good way of comparing efficiency of two very similar motors. The lower the no load current, the better.

My CC 2650 draws 3.0 amps at 11.9 volts at both 0 and 10 degrees timing (i tested this using my eagletree brushless motor rpm sensor)

According to the datasheet at castle, the neu 1.5D and 2D draw 3.0 amps and 2.3 amps respectively at 10 volts. Too bad they don't have that number for he 1Y but it should be somewhere between the two or around 2.5 amps @ 10v. I'd take the CC build over the neu any day though despite the very slight efficiency difference if any.

anywho, castle people have stated their motors are at least as good as neus efficiency-wise, everything is basically the same, hand wound etc, but they have bigger bearings and sealed endbells more suited to car use.

Cool I'm trying to do some research here and find out how good these are because the price is right for sure.

That's what I am going to say. I was totally happy with my Castle 2200KV motor in the past two months, definately a better yet cheaper power plant for truck use.

I have had my 2200 for about 6 months and its a great motor.
leaps and bounds above the other chinese motors.

Temp wise on my emaxx, they Neu 1515 1y and Castle 1515 1y ran the same. Power wise- they ran the same. I will be getting Castle motors from now on.
