using MMM with buggy? whats your settings?

i have the Medusa Afterburner 2300kv 70mm and i am wondering the best settings for this. wondering who has the MMM with a buggy and what your settings are to keep heat down, not too much throttle punch and brakes.

Timing low, start power probably around medium (depending on how you do soft starts), and punch control from 50-80% depending on how responsive and powerful you want.

I would start with timing lowest and start power at the second to lowest setting. If you get cogging/chattering on starts, increase start power. When the starts are good, start off the punch control at 50%, then run it and adjust the punch control to suit your driving and motor heat output.

thanks Brian.. do you by chance know of a way to use the Castle Link on a mac?

BrianG 02.12.2009 02:14 PM

Yeah, buy a cheap PC!

Seriously, I'm sure it can be done via emulation/virtual machine, but I've never done it. I'm sure it's not a simple matter though.

i was running xp through parallels and it couldnt install castle link. everything else was ok except this. weird, so i deleted it. i am limited to 80gb hard drive on this for the time being and didnt want the xp if i couldnt use castle link. its the only think i needed to install parallels for anyways. kinda bummed they dont make a mac compadiable program. :(

Yeah, probably more of a PITA than it's worth.

My theory as to why there is no CLink for the MAC: Many/most MAC users I've talked to are fan-boys/girls because 1) the MAC is "pretty", 2) they have no need to know how things work as long as they do, and 3) they just use it for graphics. So - and I'm generalizing here, the common MAC user is not tech-inclined and would probably never get into the R/C hobby where being "techy" is all but a requirement. Following that logic; since most MAC users would not be into R/C, there is no need to put energy/resources into porting the CLink for Mac. Let them use their overpriced hardware with overpriced software (anything Adobe) to make pretty pictures.

Seriously, isn't the MAC OS based on a Linux kernel? I'm sure there is a guru somewhere that can make it work, provided you pay them enough to work at it.

At the end of the day, you can pick up a really cheap/older laptop for about $100-$150 that will run CLink just fine. Give it ~512MB of RAM, throw Win2k or XP on there, and load CLink. And while you're at it, throw a copy of my R/C Calc program on there too and you have something you can take to the track.

i have laptops at the house i have CLink on and it is how i see and adjust my settings. one is the wife's and the other, unfortunately i cant take the other laptop to the track cause it is my media server laptop for the house. i am pretty savvy with any OS but Linux. i am an IT dude for my work here. i LOVE the macbook but this right here, as i said before is the only reason i installed parallels in the first place. so i am pretty limited to the settings at the track unfortunately. wish there was another alternative.
