Direct servo power ?

Does anyone know where I can get a wiring harness to direct power 2 servos instead of powering them through the RX?

DDM is the only online place that I have seen and they are out.

You could make one out of a Y-harness/extension, remove + & - from reciever plug and hook to power and leave signal wire in plug to reciever.

But some crawler stores might have them in stock since they are relatively common on them.

Be sure to at least tie all the grounds together though, otherwise the servo won't have a reference for the signal wire.

The + and - would both have to be taken out of the plug? Or just the + ?

You'd need common + & - for all servos and reciever then seperate signal wires for each servo channel

OK. I'm just kind fo thinking out loud here...

So both + and both - would be taken out of the plug and spliced back into the + and - after the switch and before the RX? I would still have a + and a -going into the RX (bat) and each servo plug would only have a signal wire.

pretty much but generally to an ubec rather than directly to the battery.

When i did this mod on my clod I removed the signal wire from the servo plug and instered it into a spare male plug - each servo then has two plugs, one with + and - and one with signal.

The signal plugs go to the rx.

For the + and - leads i created a 3 to 1 y adapter - plugging in the two servos and the ubec - the two servos are then powered directly from the ubec.

For the output of the y i left only the - which plugged into the rx to provide a common ground.

hope that makes sense.

You lost me on the last part. If you didn't have a +, from the Y, going into the RX then how did it get power?

Arct1k 02.18.2009 07:06 AM

the ubec plugs into the y adapter and powers the servos.

the rx is powered by the esc's bec.

OK, that explains it. I wouldldn't be using an ESC BEC, just the RX battery.
