maximum temp. for a123 batteries

What is the maximum safe temperature for the a123 m1 cells? I got mine up to 140 degrees f. today and i wasnt sure if that is good or bad. thanks

There was a video posted a while back where a guy heated up an a123 cell in a controlled test to see what it could take; he got to about 400*F before it exploded.

I would recommend staying on the cooler side of 130 though, same as lipos- seems like your setup is way off somewhere to make the cells heat up that much- you running 1p or 2p?

My setup is just a stock 3905 emaxx and im running two 3s a123s so that would be 6s 1p. Maby the two brushed motors in it are pulling to many amps for 1p. Brushed motors are so innefficient so maby that is the problem? What do you think?

I think brushed motors suck donkey dongle...

They shouldnt be pulling that much current though, but, stranger things have happend at sea... 2psetup would be preferable, or check your gearing and go down a notch maybe- what esc are you using & your current gearing?

140F is fine. But a 2P config like mentioned before is recommended.

I reached 193F on one pack before and the pack lasted me another year, before one cell gave up the ghost.
