Hyper ST build
Well this is my first conversion and I'm looking forward to getting it completed. I got it for a pretty good price from a member here.
My setup for now is a mamba max,9xl, and 4s 4k max ass pack.(going to upgrade soon) I'm trying to figure out where I'm going to put the mamba max for now. Some pix included. http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c2...6/DSC00117.jpg This is when I first got it minus the servo. http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c2...6/DSC00116.jpg Found a good spot for the receiver. http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c2...6/DSC00119.jpg Where I'd like the batteries to go and MM mounting position 1 http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c2...6/DSC00121.jpg MM mounting position 2... If anyone has any tips on where to mount this thing LMK. Also What am I going to do about an antennae mount? lol (BTW if your wondering about the hole, this is my RC blanket that I work on) |

What's your setup? How do you like the truggy?
|
Thats 4s with a HPI castle neu 1515 1Y and a v2 MM from Sep/Oct last year.
Runs well on 4/5s. |
If I'm not mistaken your batteries look like 2x2s maxamps 4k or 5k. They may not be up to the job.
|
I have mine basically like Arct1k does. The batt a bit more fwd helps with the weight distribution imo.
This was the intial setup w/ an XL and a MM. It now has a neu and a MMM. Plenty of room for either. I love this truggy. Its inexpensive, turns awesome, cheap to fix (if ever needed) and does quite well on the track. http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y25...4/IMG_5515.jpg |
uh oh.... I was eying some zippy 25c packs. What battery tray are you guys using?
|
Mikes of course!
|
How do you mount Mike's tray?
|
Personally 4mm screws into chassis

I made my own tray out of an ABS Radio shack project box. Works really well, but a bit of a work to do. I cut the tray down lengthwise and in a way the bottom section would overlap to clear a shelf for the mudguard. ABS cement bonds it all back together. Then the whole thing is mounted w/ countersunk 3mm screws into the chassis. I'd do a write up, but since Mike makes trays, its not for here. Mikes trays are very nice, clean and easy. |
That truck looks familiar:whistle:
Looking good dude! |
Thanks man. Some more news on the build. I've been looking at some different options for my battery box. My dad bought home a piece of sheet metal so I pretty much took some pliers and bent it to the size of my batteries. So now my dad is going to get a guy from his job to fab me up a box.
However I did get my servo horn, battery box and 4mm bullets in so I ran it briefly and I'm very surprised at how well this thing turns. It's the best handling R/C I've ever driven :D http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c2...6/DSC00137.jpg http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c2...6/DSC00130.jpg |
So after millions of changes and a couple of test runs I'm very happy with my truck. A couple of changes are bald tires :), mmm 2200 combo, 4s 5k maxass 20c batteries(looking to upgrade to 5s for under $100) and some heavier springs. It's still not as firm as I'd like it suspension wise but I'll have to deal with it for now. As for the center I threw 100k diff oil in it to stop the front tires from turning into pizza cutters.
I've run into a recent dilemma though it seems like my motor mount from rc-monster is bent. I've been trying to figure out how for the longest. And since it's bent it's eating up my pinion gear (rcm). So without further ad here are some pictures and a short vid of my hyper st. http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c2...6/DSC00601.jpg http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c2...6/DSC00600.jpg http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c2...6/DSC00599.jpg http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c2...h_MOV00597.jpg |
I would suggest that the complete lack of a centre diff top plate is probably the cause of the issue with the motor plate bending...
Best replace motor mount and install centre diff plate before you kill the motor... |
