Burned 6.5mm Bullett
Ok so i have a MMM v2, i just got a 1515 1.5d from a forum member. The motor is used but not much. My setup is a 3.3 revo, mechinal brakes, 4s zippy 5000 cells, geared 16/40, Im using stock diffs, locked in 2nd and center diff.
Ok so to the controller and motor ran fine the first time out, 1.5 batts and i busted a rear nuckle. motor temps up to 115 controller at 105 and batts 105. Once i fixed that, next run went fine until motor temps got to about 150 and the controller got to 120, but i guess the white bullet in the pic below was loose, as it came out of the bullet connector and stop the truck in its tracks, and it seems to have burned and chipped a little, im not sure if i should send the controller back for repair or use it as is? http://img26.imageshack.us/img26/7307/img01221.jpg http://img144.imageshack.us/img144/7403/img01231.jpg |
yeah it might still work. but its best to send in

IMO the 1.5d motor pulls too many amps this causes a lot of heat...remember the MMM is a low resisitance ESC and I am not surprised with what happened.
Good luck with your setup |
I would clean that up and make the bullet fit tight again. Then use it.
You have to make sure they all fit tight though. If they don't, then you need new bullets. |
should i maybe solder the motor directly to the bullet in the esc?
|
Also please check the resistance between a male/female connection of the 6.5mm bullets. I saw a situation where the resistance was about 1000ohms (or was it miliohms) compared to the 50 that a Deans connection gave. With those restrictive connectors the car ran like a slug and puffed a lipo pack.
Taking off the plating with very fine grit sand paper and cleaning up the bullets helped in the above situation. |
Also try to put shrinkwrap on the female connectors on the esc.
