40 series rim question
So I plan to run some 40 series moabs on the flm savvy.
The comando beadlocks I have seem to have about a half offset, the hex is about centered in the width of the rim. I would prefer a bit less (more?) offset for a wider track. I am not worried if I have to use non beadlock wheels, just want a different wheel. I would also like a spoke or chrome wheel, dish wheels are a bit boring... Also can do 17 or 23mm hex wheels. |
Do you need any 40 series moabs? I have a BN pair
|
How about these?
http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXPEC1&P=7 No info about offset though... These list a 20mm of set, but it looks like that is from the front, not the rear??? http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXPEE1&P=7 |
I personally like the Cheyennes, but they might have a bit to much offset. Not sure. Why not the Cheyenne narrow beadlocks? They were designed for the Moab XLs...

Too much offset on the cheyennes in what direction? I want the track to be wider than the commandos can offer... |

I used Axial Over sized beadlocks on my E-revo & on the front the inner beadlock ring rubbed on the front suspension.

the axials do tend to rub IF, you use the 14-17mmmm plasitic hex adapter, and not 17mm hex hubs, the 2mm the hex hubs move out the wheel is just enough so they dont rub on my emaxx or muggy... Great wheels
Proline used to make those wabash wheels in like a 3/4" offset but I dont see them anymore make mike whip up some more of these, LINK looks like a sick offset ! |
Good wheels.

I have a set of those rims with Proline Mashers installed. The wheels look great for sure, but without the beadlocks the tires will not stay on for long if you put any real power to them. So these wheels are my show wheels now for keeping a vehicle on the shelf. |

If you want more offset, you could always try using the XL axles which have ~+12mm of width per side. If you have a std Sav X, you would have to upgrade to the Super HD diff output cup and XL/Flux axles tho. Also, if you have the hex hub conversion set, Ofna extended hex hubs for the Hyper series could work possibly. They offer upto +12mm as well. |
I like my commandos but those Axial's look dang good.
I was lucky and scored some lightly used 40 series Dirthawgs mounted on Commandos with the 23mm adapters for 70 shipped. I see guys popping these up on rccrawler.com all the time. In fact that is one of the best places I have found to get used tires and wheels. |
