RC8Te vs RC8T

I'm new to this (I'm looking to buy a RC8T to convert) and I see AE just released the RC8Te and it's a lot cheaper than the RC8T. The one thing that jumps out is composite shocks and aluminum towers on the e vesion. Other than that what are the other differences besides the e conversion?

Also AE says it's perfectly balanced but the center diff offset is no where near as much as the RCM conversion, thoughts?

The "perfectly balanced" can mean anything. Perfectly to who. Marketing BS IMO.

As far as the differences go. It appears that AE built the RC8Te using the same parts as the RC8T RTR truggy. stamped aluminum towers, plastic chassis braces, steel turnbuckles and tie rods vs the titanium ones on the Fatory team kit, plastic steering top plate, etc...

It looks like a nice truggy for a very nice prce, but my opinion is if you plan to race it to go for the Fatory team kit and put the RC-Monster conversion on it. You can sell the "nitro parts" and probably get back a decent buck to try and bring the price difference down a bit. But if you are just trying to experiment and see if you like it it could ba a nice option to keep the initial investment down. But by the time you buy the motor, esc, batteries and charger the price is still up there to get into it.

if your gonna do it, you might as well do it right and get ther rc8t factory team kit, its worth the money, the ae conversion sucks....

These are my thoughts as well. It looks like A main is offering the truck for $399!!! I have the money for the factory team but I have been out of this hobby since 1990 and this might just be a one of those things. I thought about upgrading the parts as time goes by on the e version if this turns into a hobby again. However, I'm a firm believer that you buy the best option first. The plastic shocks remind me of my old Tamiya Falcon ;) and this is a lot to get over for such an expensive toy. In the mean time I'm restoring my old RC10 also to see if this pans out, but I have an itch to buy new and buy the right product.
