Shortening leads on Castle/Neu motor

Hey all, I just installed a MMM 2200 combo in my E Revo and was wondering if it was possible to shorten the leads on the motor safely. I have been searching around on here for a definite answer on the subject but haven't been able to find one thus far.

I have heard people say in the past that its not a great idea to shorten the leads on these types of motors.. is that just a load of garbage or does it hold some truth?

Last but not least, if I were to shorten them down is it possible to have new leads installed on the motor down the road if I were to put it in another vehicle that required longer leads again?

Thanks in advance guys! I know you will get me going in the right direction here.

I would leave the leads alone, they are an extension of the windings...Why would you want to shorten the leads?

Check out Castles website, they even state that the wire are OK to be shortened........

In the part under the pics of the motors.. Note: Motor wires OK to shorten

I have shortened mine so it looks better but only cut the ends off the bullets mainly, maybe half an inch on top of that

Not on the Castle Neu motors. The windings terminate inside the can.

Thats what I had heard as well, but looking closely at the leads on the Castle motor they appear to just be the same 10g wire they use on the ESC, not like a genuine NEU that are the actual windings exiting the can. I guess thats why I just assumed I could trim them but I wanted a few extra opinions seeing how my assumptions have gotten me into trouble with electronics in the past.

I cant believe I missed that piece of the spec page on the Castle site about the leads. DUR! Im also just noticing that the motor leads on the E-Revo BL are much shorter than the out of the box MMM length.

I thought about just leaving them full length but Im not found of big bunches of extra wire on my motor setups. It looks so much cleaner all cut to length.. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't killing my new motor by doing so.

So that solves that.. time to go shorten these bad boys.

Thanks guys.

Why not shorten the ESC to motor wires instead of the motor wires themselves?

Wouldn't that achieve the same result?

The motor wires plug straight into the esc with the mmm combo.
