Noob in the house
 

Greets. Just registered, just bought a Traxxis Summit. I know virtually nothing about the R/C world but I'm dipping a toe in to test the waters.

I'm into 4wheeling in the 1:1 scale. Been doing that for quite awhile and this is my main trail rig.

I bought a Summit mainly because it's a moderate type of rig. I've painted it up a bit, and still have a little more paint to add to make it match the 1:1 rig, then I'll just leave it stock until something breaks. A couple other guys from our 4x4 club have R/C trucks also, so we'll have some fun, I'm sure. :party:

I kinda had my eyes on a REVO and then when I saw the Summit had selectable lockers, I decided to get that. The 2 speed tranny is nice too. :wink:

If anyone has any tips on where the weak points are (I've been reading the forums on the REVO since not much summit stuff) and possibly what type of maintenance needs to be done. Things that aren't in the manual. :yes:

I don thave a summit ..but..nice lookng truck!...when I had my revo the only tying I ever broke was one of the rear push rods...other than that it's a pretty solid truck

Thanks Magman on the paint. :lol: That's another thing I know next to nothing about. But when I needed to paint my 4Runner, I bought a cheap air gun and some good automotive paint (Dupont Centurion) and it turned out really, really well and is holding up far better than I expected that it would, considering the abuse (tree contact is common here in Iowa).

So, since I have some of that automotive paint left and I wanted the Summit to be the same color, that's what I used. It's a single stage acrylic (I barely know what that means) and so I deserve little credit. large pic of how, paint came out well.

Of course, I had to go on a crash course about how these things are painted. It was white on the inside, so I started painting on the outside. That wasn't bad, but I could see light coming thru still. So, I then painted the inside and it seemed to even it all out.

Unfortunately, I got too much paint on the body and it kinda glossed out, it's a flat paint. It came out OK on my 4runner, flat as expected. But I was rather inebriated while painting the model body and forgot to turn down the pressure on the air compressor. I had paint and dirt and dust all over the dingin' garage! Had to totally redo the paint job and ended up with too much paint on it. :diablo:
