Holy heat sink!:surprised:

Unsullied_Spy 03.08.2009 09:28 PM

 I know guys that put one of those on their computer's CPU with a 120mm fan. Very good heatsink, even low speed fans help a lot though.

lol, funny. A computer/console is not usually subjected to the rigors of jumping and rough terrain, not to mention dust, rocks, and other debris. It might surprise you, but my computer does have fans, 7 in fact (4 in case, 1 in PS, 1 on CPU, 1 on GPU).

But if computer makers would simply put the CPU on the other side of the mobo, it would allow the case itself to be the heatsink when you screw the mobo down. Might still need a fan for some of the other stuff, but would sure reduce the amount needed. Would make water cooling a much better alternative too.

None on the chipset? I had 9 in mine (custom built and had 5 case, 1 PS, 1 CPU, 1 GPU, 1 chipset) but found it to be to loud since I leave it on all the time.

Just put a big heatsink (heatpipe ones are great) on it and most of them are fine. The newer NVidia chipsets run really hot though, fans are advisable for those. My ABIT IP35 has a bunch of heatsinks for NB, SB, and the MOSFETs that are all connected by a heatpipe and they stay plenty cool.

Depends. I usually install larger heatsinks (big surprise there), but my system is OOOLLLDD and past due for a replacement.

I'm still having difficulty adapting this to my buggy...

I'm starting to suspect that it would be better suited on my car or something

I don't see the picture, but if that's the Zalman silent case it's been around for years but is WAY too expensive to be worthwhile.
