Pinion gear red or bue loctite ?
The pinion gear on my savage flux come loose couple of time after i put a blue loctite, i want know if is too dangerous to put a red loctite on set srew or is better to clean pinion and set screw and reapply another blue ?
I'd say there's another problem if blue won't hold it. I don't even use any loctite on my pinion grub screws. Never needed it. I'd check alignment, mesh and look for vibration.
I'd clean them both and reapply the blue. Also be sure that you're using a high quality hex driver than you can torque it down with.
Blue has always held well for me. IIRC, lock-tite does get weaker with high temps, so if the pinion is getting hot enough to weaken the bond, maybe the mesh is too tight?
I have burned 2 slipper pad and the spur gear become extremely hot i think is that and for my gear mesh i have put paper just like the manuel said and now i have buy a new pad and some 4mm bolt for slipper.
You may want to tighten the slipper down more. Mine got loose after a couple of packs and the spur got stupid hot. After that I pulled it and tightened it all the way and then backed off about 1/4 turn. No problems since then, even running on 6S.
Tighten the slipper like skellyo said. I run mine 1/8 loose. Clean and reapply blue loctite.
Another thought - Is the set screw old? They have a sharp edge (cup) on the bottom that allows them to "bite" into the motor shaft. Over time this edge wears out and can allow the set screw to loosen up a lot easier than if it were new.

I use the Blue loctite and it's fine, just check your set screw with a hex wrench before each run as well.

you should wait alt least 2 hours after applying to use the truck, preferably over night. If used right after applying most of the thread lock will fly off.
You can try applying loctite betwene shaft and pinion also.
Also clean threads on pinion and change to new set screw. |
Dunno about you guys, but I got farking sick of my pinion gear set screw coming out on my new Savage Flux, damn thing came out 4 times after only two drives. Co I cleaned it and red loctited that SOB in their. Now it should be going nowhere

What is the problem with red lock-tite? Aren't all the colors made to break their seal at high temps?
not saying he should use it, just curious. For the record, blue lock-tite has always worked for me. |
as others have said , only blue imo
also helps to let it set up for about 1 day if you havent |
