Savage shock oil weight
 

I got the savage 4.6. I was wondering what weight oil other people are running in there stock shocks. I put 50wt in but it seems to stiff. Is there an advantage to going to other kinds of shocks. Thanks

Ive heard many people would say to stay with the stock shocks because if they breakm its a cheap replacment, but if you want upgraded id say go for the ones that HPI makes. OR you can by the flm shock tower and 4 UE shocks for the best results.

I was more wondering about the oil weight. I not bothered about upgrading yet. I keep it in mind. I like the ue shocks that is for sure.

Well, if you said 50wt is too stiff, id reccomend trying 50wt in 4 shocks, and in the other 4 try 35 wt oil.

I don't know what kind of shock oil there is in my shocks. Because it is a second hand truck and I never changed the oil. But I think it is around 30/40 wt. The truck handles good and also with jump it can handle a lot.

By the way. Did you converted the 4.6 to BL? Or is it still nitro?

i would get the flm towers with powerstroke shocks instead of ue.

it is going to be nitro for now. I have plenty of brushless trucks to bash and thrash. If not happy with it I can drop some thing in it. I got a 7xl just begging to go in something. ;)

I run 40 wt on my shocks with a bit of preload and this thing sits PERFECTLY. I'm using the upgraded HPI threaded shocks, but most everyone says to stay with stock because the shafts won't bend. If my shock shafts bend a bit though, I'm going to upgrade to LST shocks.

i would try 40-45wt, it kinda hard but not to hard

I took it out for a drive. seems the 30 wt in the front works well. The back of the truck is heavy to the front so I left the 50 in there. It seems to handle good and ride smooth. Have to let you know you the first 100 foot jump i make. ;)

I'm running 30 weight all around. Handles pretty good.
