Will it work?

I see Mike has these mod1 pinion gears and offers a bore reducer to fit 1/8th and 4mm shafts. Will this pinion work with the stock spur gear on the Slash?? I have been searching high and low for 32 pitch pinions and the teeth selection is limited. I would like to run a 25t. Here is what I am speaking of. My other option is to try to get a hold of Mike and see if I can send back the 1/8th Medusa for a 5mm Medusa.

The stock slash gear is 48p... You can put the jato spurs on for use with 32p, or the revo spurs for mod1. You can use the 5mm bore 32p or mod1 pinions with the bore reducer for use with and 1/8 shaft motor.

32p 1/8 bore selection only goes up to 22t. I would go with the revo 40t spur and mod 1 gears.

So the Mod1 pinion will not work with the Stock slash spur correct? At least that is what I got from your reply. What Revo spur would be comparable to a stock 86t slash spur?? My goal is to run 23/86 an 25/86. Just not sure what the comparable Revo spur would be.

Thanks

I actually recommend the 32P instead of the Mod1 for the Slash. It's much easier to find various sizes of 32P spurs for it to help with gearing choices. With such a small Mod1 spur, each jump in pinion tooth is quite a lot of change in speed.

I could not find any 32 pitch in 25t. Can the bore reducer that Mike has be used on any 5mm pinion such as the 32 pitch 5mm, or just the mod1? And can the 32 pitch be used with the stock Slash spur?

15:56 32P is darn close to 23:86
and
18:62 32P is darn close to 25:86

You need a 32P spur instead of the stock 86T, which is 48P.

You can get 32P traxxas spurs in the following sizes:
54, 56, 58, 62, 65, 68 and 72

You won't need a 25T pinion when the spur tooth count is dropped.

Also, yes, the bore reducer Mike sells will adapt a 5mm bore pinion (32P or Mod1) to a 1/8th shaft motor.
