DIG on a MOA truck
 
I understand how dig works on a shafty based truck . Can someone please explain how DIG works on a MOA based truck with the micro switches ?. Thank's:smile:

Short the rear motor and it locks up.

Disconnect the rear motor it free wheels

OK i understand the shorting part. But i dont understand how it disconnects the RR motor . Can you elaberate a little more please ?.

The switch setuo works when you run a single esc with 2 brushed motors. It installs between the pos and neg wire that run to the rear motor and either disconects them to allow freewheel or disconnects them from the esc and shorts them out to provide some drag brake of sorts.

If you run 2 escs you can use a stick radio and have selectable mixes to control what the escs do individually. So you could actually run the rear motor in reverse and use 4ws to spin in place.... BUt I think you plan to make a 2.2 rig, not a super so you will not have 4ws...

The switch just goes open and cuts current to the motor.

I have seen some that short the wires too... I know it will not add much brake to a brushed motor, but it is better than nothing. All we need is a MAO with a worm drive, auto lockup when the motor is disconnected. Only issue would be motor mounting perpendicular to the axle.

A stdp switch will short it out. hook up the negative power wire (motor power) from ESC to common, and the NC lead to the motor negative, then the NO goes to positive motor and ESC motor power terminals. When the switch is not hit, current flows through the switch NC to common. When the switch is activated, current only flows from common to the NO lead, which leads back to the motor and causes drag brake.

Here is a pic, but he used positive through the switch instead of negative. I hear it causes more arcing from the motor inductance, but don't have proof or theory to back the claim up. A skid loader mechanic told me to use negative side on the switch.
