Anyone thought of takin a truggy, stretching it and making it a 5th scale?

Just an idea I had...something different. I know that you can buy a 1/7 and 1/5 scale but, one based on a truggy may be cool? Stretch the chassis 2.5 ", have custom length center driveshafts made and done!:intello:

Put 8s in it w/Lutach's 10s esc and a 1521 and see what happens:whistle:

2.5" to go from 1/8 to 1/5 scale? Might need more than that I would've thought.

The theory is sound though- just take a look at Candyman's latest build- custom chassis and centerdiff unit with truggy/buggy front and rear ends. Use some offset wheels and/or axle extensions and hey-presto.

Something similar was emaxx baja and the emaxx road car...

Man it seems like you streach everything!

all yours linc...

Start with a XTM MMT. Longest whelbase of ANY MT and all it is, is a big Truggy.

I did this with my e-maxx. http://www.rc-monster.com/forum/showthread.php?t=10363

My thoughts exactly...I actualy did not measure, so the 2.5" was a guess:yes:

My old 2.5 maxx I just sold was going to be converted into a road car. I though about adding the Monoblock chassis ext. from UE to make it really long

i think it would be a very cool project

I have always loved the larger scale rc's...not their price tag though. For minimal costs...new center drive shafts, wheel extenders, a homemade chassis by me, a new body and mounts, it should be relatively inexpensive conversion as conversions go.

I would not be adding that much weight...just the extra 2-3" or so of AL chassis, which I would have milled out, and the weight of the new shafts, so lets say 6-8s w/a 10s controller would do nicely.

Anyone got at truggy they want to donate....just kidding. I must finish my Revo conversion 1st.

magman 03.17.2009 07:49 PM

Could someone tell me for sh*** and giggles how long their center drive shafts are in their truggy...it does not matter what brand. I am just curious

THANKS!

I used a 1/5 scale chassis and emaxx front/tranny/rear clips. Put on dual 7XL on 4S. Topped it off with a FG rally body.

Email Bill@rcalloy.com for custom shafts. He made 7 inch shafts for my application.

I think converting a truggy is a perfect idea. I even bought a Pajero 1/5 scale Dakar body for just such a conversion. The Pajero would have a smaller wheel base, so you would not have to use two custom shats, you can keep the stock rear shaft and just get a custome front one.

Good luck.

suicideneil 03.18.2009 01:31 PM

I wonder if Bill could make me a longer front shaft too...

rotary rocket 03.18.2009 01:48 PM

He probably could, you have to be careful though...he said anything longer than 7 inches could SNAP.
